#Potential fix for PC 'inconsistent' gameplay

I've been pulling what's left of my hair out with the game, trying to get it to play nicely. I haven't had any real issues with my controller. It bugged out a few times, but I've been able to actually run the gaame. What's bothering me is the inconsistency, sometimes I'd launch the game and dribbling and player movement, skills and passes were hyper responsive, other times there was a subtle, yet noticeable input delay. Only a few ms probably, but it changed the entire gameplay. Defenders would feel like trucks, dribbling become less responsive, passing wasn't as crisp and even the attacking AI seemed to be worse.

Obviously I've had the bug with settings not saving/changing and it 100% does have something to do with that... However I may have found a fix.

I tried every graphics setting and config trick to get the game to be responsive consistently, and It'd work for a bit then revert. I believe the solution in my case was this:

Setting my Nvidia Global option for Vsync ON. It was on 'application controlled', although I thought I had changed that earlier, I was mistaken

I run gsync with a 165hz monitor and cap the game at 120 fps, I could push it hader but that's pretty good for my eyes.

People say Vsync creates input lag, that is only true if your FPS goes ABOVE your monitors refresh rate. That is why they say to cap 3 fps or so below you monitors max refresh rate

Vsync is required to use Gsync properly, as it prevents flickering and screen tearing, while inducing minimal input lag. You can look up 'blur busters' that go into detail regarding how to set it all up correctly

Now that I have my global vsync 'ON', as opposed to 'application controlled' I think I know what is causing the issues

It is 100% the games vsync setting turning itself on and off. It was communicating that change to my GPU and because it reverts, my gameplay would change

SET THE IN GAME VSYNC OFF. It might change and mess up your settings, but I believe keeping the ingame OFF works for now. Set ingame FPS limited to UNLIMITED. Cap FPS through Nvidia or other software.

I think the vsync option in the game generates a noticeable input lag, and this was causing the unresponsiveness and even AI changes. When you have less responsive gameplay, the AI player runs seem to change, as I think they react to tiny and fast inputs on the left stick in order to trigger depending on where you are facing. The entire feel of the game changes.

Anyway, making sure the global setting for vsyng is set to ON seems to have fixed it for me, at least so far

For reference my specs are

5060ti 16gb
7500f
16gb ram

Hopefully that might help someone with a decent rig like mine that is struggling with the inconsistent gameplay on P

Hey man. Thanks for the tips. Could you send me the other settings you changed in Nvidia? And how about in-game settings?

game settings I've put on 'low' preset, i find that reduces the cutscene stutter but doesn't effect gameplay once the game is in motion. Nvidia settings I have everything default but I changed my global graphics settings to vsync = on, off in game, 120fps cap in nvidia (unlimited in game), gysync is on. Latency setting set to ultra but I don't think that does much in this configuration due to the fps cap.

I've also had some inconsistent gameplay since making this post and I think I've realised some more about what is going on...

#

I noticed my players would take heavy touches or pull out of position on defence, not do the little dribble animations etc

#

I noticed I was very slightly holding the R2 trigger sometimes, if I completely take my finger off it, dribbling responsiveness improves. I have analogue sprint ON so any R2 is full sprint. However,

#

when I messed around with the 'trigger effects' setting that makes the triggers stiff, slight pressure still triggers full sprint even though it's not supposed to

#

also when I accidently hit R2 in FUT menus it brings up the social tab, and it says 'new imput detected'. This has been something the game would do since at least 24

#

I feel like the game somehow sees the controller as 2 controllers

there's a background layer and a surface layer
