7 bench spots instead of 9

why was the number of bench spots lowered? was that really an issue? i have to leave valuable players out of my squad that would normally be on the bench. makes me inclined to sell those players when in real life teams stack up on this type of depth. and its not like injuries frequently pop up so rotating is basically non existent
