I seem to be able to vanish into the side of the bar, as shown here. I do go up the side of the bar once I am slightly inside it and I cannot continue to walk on the floor, so I think the soldiers are just slightly off here. I also sit slightly below the surface of the bar, so the snail trail shows lower than the bar surface height.
