Wishing you all a great start to 2025 🎉
Our next topic has been, to say the least, a source of fright for our development team: it’s about crime. Originally, I avoided including provocative or violent themes, as many games already explore these effectively. My goal was for inZOI to offer fun without relying on these elements. Still, for a developer, it's difficult to ignore them altogether, knowing they’d likely appeal to players.

One idea involves our in-development system where players can buy and sell items using Meow (inZOI’s currency). Naturally, this opens the door for unlawful options like stealing. Interestingly, stealing ranks only as the second-worst crime in inZOI (any guesses on number one? 🤪). However, defining appropriate set of actions for both criminals and police has been a challenge.

One approach has criminals caught by police be temporarily put in a rabbit hole (otherwise known as 'jail'), with a maximum sentence of three days. During this time, players must control another household if their criminal Zoi is a one-person household. While being forced to control another household might not be ideal, we also didn't want to pursue the familiar over-the-top police chases with helicopters and tanks. That's why we would like to hear from you. How would you implement these scenarios in a way that suits inZOI?

My vision for inZOI is a balance where good and bad coexist, like in real life, without creating a perfect utopia. Adding crime mechanics like stealing aligns with this vision while remaining grounded to not go too extreme. What are your thoughts? How should inZOI handle crime, and what other crimes should we explore? We want this to be an open discussion for everyone, and we hope to implement some of your wonderful ideas into this aspect of the game.

In Korea, 2025 is the year of the blue snake. I’ll strive to embody a humble snake—exploring, asking questions, and gathering feedback to make inZOI even better 🐍

Possible approaches, legal-wise:

  • monetary fine
  • house arrest for X days
  • community service
  • serve prison time (passive, you control other ZOIs)
  • serve prison time (active, actually go to a small prison map to serve out 1-3 days)

Possible side effects:

  • negative reputation
  • people check their wallets after interacting with you
  • sympathy from others who have done the same crime, open new dialogue options
  • banned from places/stores for X amount of time

Did I miss something important?

Don't know if that would be too much effort during this phase of the game, but I would like the complete jail experience to be added sometime in the future. You would be locked up in a jail cell and be bound to a fixed time schedule and a fixed set of actions. Maybe have conversations with the other inmates and plan your potential escape from the prison. Would likely be something to consider as a DLC.

Also like vokul said, house arrest, monetary fines or community service would be appropriate for smaller crimes like stealing.

Something that should also be explored in the future is a career as a professional criminal. Maybe crime syndicates, bank robberies, etc.

I don't know if that would interfere too much with the age rating and be something that should be created by modders, but murder should also be integrated imho.
Of course the game shouldn't be too dark but I feel like that is something that would make the game more realistic.

I think it's a good idea that if we want crime in the game, it could be made possible through mods (official ones from inZOI), but it should be an option for players to choose whether they want crime or not. The idea of theft seems like a very good fit for inZOI without the need for mods, but if we want more crime, it could be through mods. I also think the idea of a 3-day penalty for the ZOI is a good one. That said, great work to the entire inZOI team!

#

I like vokuls's suggestions and want to add: maybe for traffic crimes, like speeding or running over a red light, you could lose your license for a day or 2, so you'd have to walk everywhere. I'm not sure though if that would interfere too much with Zois getting to work on time etc.

#

I think a good idea would be for the thief to be able to steal parked cars and the zoi would have to buy an anti-theft alert for thieves or have to pay for daily insurance.

I’d love to see a robbery feature in the game, It would be awesome if robbers could break into your home, or even car, and you’d have the option to call the police or install alarm systems to stop them. Having them wear the classic black-and-white outfit and do a sneaky walk would add a fun, nostalgic touch. You could also try fighting them off if your Zoi is brave and if losing they’d bound you for a short time and steal some of your items or car. If the police show up they could chase the robber and apprehend them or chase them to the nearest subway and “disappear” maybe you’ll get a call or text from the police to let you know what happened to the robber.

For having your active Zoi do crime it would be cool to have investigators so instead of the high speed chases maybe if you get away they’ll still be investigators that have a chance of finding you and questioning you maybe depending on your charisma levels will give higher chance of getting away with crimes. Maybe they get warrants and search your home/car for the items if they find you suspicious.

Not a fan of the 3 day rabbit hole it would be nice if your just in a small jail that you have limited options to take care of your needs in the cell could be bed, toilet, maybe a gym mat/bookshelf and a table that officers will place food on every so many hours. - The table could be next to the jail bars so the officer won’t actually have to enter your cell just place it on the table through the bars.

I loved this topic because it can influence many systems and mechanics! This is another suggestion on how this could negatively affect the ZOI committing the crime, emphasizing the subsequent negative consequences. First, as someone mentioned, it could harm the ZOI's karma and affect how other ZOIs perceive the player. In this case, those around might feel distrustful, hesitant, or even fearful depending on the crime committed.

Additionally, this could influence the ability to find a new job, as the ZOI's history would be tarnished, making reintegration into society more difficult. For instance, minor crimes, like pickpocketing, could have a lesser impact compared to more serious offenses, such as robbing a company or someone's house.

Second, one aspect I enjoy in Skyrim is how merchants become suspicious if the player lingers in their shop for too long. This could be applied in inZOI after a ZOI serves their sentence and the rumor of their crime spreads. In other words, as the rumor spreads, merchants could become wary of the ZOI, paying closer attention to their movements in the store.

Now, let’s imagine our ZOI is a criminal who hasn’t been caught yet. Suppose they always steal in the same place, like a park. Police could increase patrols in that area, making theft more difficult and forcing the player to seek other locations for their crimes. Furthermore, crime could affect relationships. For example, a close friend who fully trusts our ZOI might express emotions like "disappointed," but could still maintain hope in them due to the strength of their past friendship.

# weary trellis Possible approaches, legal-wise: - monetary fine - house arrest for X days - com...

I agree with everything on this one!!! ❤️ I also want though, that police can do check ups on your behavior.

I want a Zoi to be able to frame an innocent Zoi for being a pickpocket. And the police can take the innocent zoi to prison.

If the zoi frames a former pickpocket for sterling money again, then the police will be more likely to believe the story.

If a zoi with good reputation or good charisma frames someone, people are more likely to believe it's true.

home burgaries yes please just like in the sims getting burgled is so much fun like if you dont install a burglar alarm the robber can nick/take your stuff and get away but if you do have a alarm installed it'll go off and you can fight the burglar until the police show up to arrest them

I was thinking about your question – I’d guess the number one offense would be hitting another Zoi with a car 🤭.

For a one-Zoi household, maybe there could be a system to make the game feel more realistic. If something like this happens, the Zoi could go to court, and we could choose to plead guilty or innocent. Depending on the result:
(i know we wont be innocent but being able to fight it and get a charge would be cool)

• The Zoi could go to a playable mini jail for a set time, we could also build a jail for the Zoi and others for the whole city when crimes happen.

• Pay a charge/fine for jail and choose to either go to jail or skip jail entirely (if skipped higher charge), if in jail still a set list of tasks to be completed or once out jail or skipped have a share of tasks with negative out comes ( i listed a few below) 👇🏼

After release:
• Fines or tickets could need to be paid.
• Zoi could have limited job options because of a bad reputation.
• A tough karma system could make things harder—more items break, and the chances of accidents or death increase.
• Police check-ins could happen to pay the charges/fines, the Zoi could even lose their home if bills aren’t paid in such a time with potential permanent jail time. (We would then need a new a household)

I think this would add an interesting layer of difficulty and realism to the gameplay. And maybe something can be implemented as well with multiple Zois in one household. I also have a few more ideas for like things of crime that could fit InZoi like break ins, running around in the nude, getting in fights with other Zois, setting homes on fire, and vandalism. Of course nothing crazy but just some thoughts 😉

InZOI really need challenges. I hope you can go in-depth with the crime system. Surface level interactions will get boring really quickly.

I remember that you said previously that safety would be changed to Crime Rate.

I would love a Crime Rate slider (with parental control feature) that increases or decreases the crime level. So it can still be suitable for your young audience and fun for your mature audience.

High Crime Rate can generate superheroes to step in to curb crime. Slow Police Response time. Police corruption. Political corruption. Wealthy Zois bribing the system to stay out of jail.

Low Crime Rate will have no crime at all.

I don't just want surface level stealing. I want to be able to plan heists, scope out the business, plot exit plans, get away driver.

Steal art from art gallery.
Jewellery heist.
Bank heist.
Steal cars.
Rob houses/boats.
Hack.
Election tampering.
Financial fraud.
Stealing funds from your job.
Car Accidents that causes death should land your Zoi in jail.

We also need road/driving laws.
No driving on side walk
No speeding in school zones
Etc

I still want my superheroes Vs villains. https://discord.com/channels/1162040845181124618/1255794042223071253

We need a detailed criminal career.

Consequences:
Wanted Posters/Most Wanted List
Fired from job
Gain Infamy
Fines
Banned from business for a limited time.
Court and Jail Time (no rabbit holes please)
Contact a lawyer to represent you or get assigned a public defender.
Jail record that makes it hard to get jobs( work community service or bribe to get your record wiped).
Some big court cases can be televised depending of your criminal rank.

The interactions have to be replayable.
https://discord.com/channels/1162040845181124618/1282316769561804810

Everything can't be positive that's what made Sims 4 very boring. There weren't any gameplay features that made you want to be bad and there were no consequences. I want gameplay that makes me think and gives me a challenge.

Happy new year 2025! Psycat_Holiday_Sparkle
Adding crimes like theft to inZOI would be interesting as long as the punishment is appropriate, e.g. instead of sending a Zoi to prison, he loses his reputation, and his friends and neighbors move away from him. This would force the player to work on re-establishing relationships.
Some ideas Psycat_ThumbsUp
Little lies: Lying about his job or age, which damages his relationships.
Not respecting neighborhood rules: Making noise or parking badly, which can lead to conflicts and fines.
Lying to get promoted: Exaggerating your skills, but with risks if they are discovered.
Ignoring your responsibilities: Not paying your bills or neglecting your family can lead to problems.
Thanks for asking our advice, and good luck in the Year of the Blue Snake 🐍! Flower_Pink

crime should be widely explored, violence and police action, since it is a life simulator and life is like that... other crimes that should be included:

  • theft and sale of cars
  • robbing stores using a mask and a gun
  • violence (beating up someone and having the police see it)
tough fable

I like the suggestions for a fine to pay, as well as house arrest. And I really hope you add an actual (non-rabbit-hole) jail. Perhaps popups can ask us if we want to plead guilty or innocent and that would effect the penalty you get and the chances of getting out.
Though I suppose a live, playable jail can wait until you add a criminal type of career to the game as well. For a story, you can say that they are joining a gang or Mafia type of organization.

We don't need murder in this game, despite the difficulty you'd find looking for a player who hasn't killed a sim. It and other violent crimes are too real.
But I would like if it were possible to get an intruder in your house to steal from you. You'll have to buy an alarm system to protect your belongings. Then you can add a system where we can upgrade the system, to make it more efficient, if we have a certain skill.
Or we could just buy the better model for more money, of course.

Since K'jun didn't want to pursue over the top police chases.

The city can employ superheroes or vigilantes to find wanted criminals. This way is less animation work . The hero can follow clues, investigate, interview witnesses to find the criminal.

I believe that we all have good and evil within us, and choosing one or the other is a daily decision. This can be mirrored in Zois as well. Character can also influence these choices. I imagined having a prison where it would be possible to visit the imprisoned Zois and perhaps even help in their reintegration into society. They could engage in activities that contribute to character change, making both the imprisoned Zois and the visiting Zois feel good about their good deeds.

yeah like moral decision influence the rest of the gameplay with some consecuences

It would also be interesting if a Zoi's success in stealing depended on a specific skill (in addition to the environment), and they had to develop that skill to successfully pull off bigger heists, such as robbing banks.

Happy New Year's Zoi Team, Is it possible to have other Zoi's break into the players home and visa versa and have a chance of stealing items? Consequences: the police with come to the house and investigate the crime and the rumor will spread . The Zoi will serve jail time too if caught. This could be based off skills too as @white bridge said. And it will all to the Zoi's karma too. What about an alarm system being added into the game too or the appropriate equivalent. If possible top of what @wooden ingot said . Thanks 🙂

But the more they add things like crime and theft, they'll have to change the PEGI/ESRB (Rating) for players. That's why I think it's a good idea to have the option to choose whether you want crimes and theft through the use of official mods.

also change the crime level of the city in the edit map mode maybe this is more easy to do?

I'm actually glad you are not trying to create a perfect utopia but also not going overboard with violence or extreme crime (after all, we have games for that already).

Some suggestions below, some of which have already been suggested by our wonderful community:

Home robberies - There can be a slim chance of a robber appearing under the veil of night to rob your home. I would like for the home owner to have a chance to fight the robber (the higher your fitness skills, the higher the chance of overpowering the robber) and hold them until police arrive. There should be home alarm systems for this

Stealing from grocery stores or clothing stores

Impersonating an officer - This might make for some funny scenarios as this imposter zoi is going around giving others fake tickets or demanding their popcorn or cotton candy at Bliss Bay park, for example. All fun and games until they come across a real police officer.

Car crashes - Running from the scene of a crash could result in a ticket

Blackmail - Having a chance of witnessing another zoi do something naughty gives you the chance to blackmail them

Corporate crimes - This could range from blackmail to embezzlement, to sabatoging fellow company workers in an attempt to rise ranks. As suggested by one of my viewers, if you are caught, you can be marched out of the company by security in front of your coworkers (march of shame)

Vandalism - Doesn't have to be serious, can be easily mended such as graffiti, toilet paper in trees or spraying silly string all over

Possible career paths:

  • Police officer (you can go on patrol and ticket any wrong doing zois and make arrests; there is a chance your arrests don't go smoothly and the criminal can get away)
  • Detective (follow up at crime scenes and investigate for clues, interview witnesses, go on a stake out, search for the culprit and arrest. The case can range from easy to difficult and does not have to be solved in a day; randomly generated cases would be so much fun)
tough hinge
#

....Continued (my post was too long) 😅

How do you get caught?

  • Witnesses (if another zoi sees you, there is a chance they will turn you in depending on the relationship)
  • Police officers on duty (if you commit a crime in front of a police officer, they will natural punish you; there is a chance you can get away from the police officer, the higher your fitness skill or mental prowess, the higher the chance to get away)
  • CCTV (if you commit a crime in front of a camera, there is a chance you will be identified and therefore punished)

What is the punishment?

  • Could be a ticket you have to pay (fee depends on severity of crime)
  • Show up to court and plead to judge (rabbit hole where you go to plead your case and result can range from being let go, to paying ticket, to going to jail depending on severity of crime; paying for a lawyer can increase your chance of a better outcome)
  • Go straight to jail (rabbit hole as you suggested; timeframe depends on severity of crime; random chance to be let home early due to good behavior)
  • House arrest for smaller crimes
  • Community service (hours depend on severity of crime)
  • Public shame/embarrassment (this can go away with time or doing good deeds in the community)

As always, thank you for listening to us and taking our suggestions to heart. Much appreciated! Psycat_ThumbsUp

Controlling another household if you only have one Zoi seems like it could be confusing and annoying.
Personally, I'd rather sit there fast forwarding the 3 days, or pay a hefty fine to skip. That would feel like punishment to the player too, which I think would be a bit funny 😁

As for other crimes, I'm not sure. If we're going beyond simple stealing, it should definitely be toggleable as not everyone wants violence and murder in their game.

Something that could be fun tho is tax fraud. Include a small tax amount into the player's bills and give the player a choice on whether to pay it or not.
If they don't... Well, nothing could happen (for now), or sooner or later they could have the police knocking on their door 😆

I would love it if the consequences matched the crime. For example if a zoi runs a red light or pushes someone over on the street they could get a fine. If they steal from a business or rob someone's home they could get a few days jail time (depending on how long each day is in your game). And if they hit someone with their car killing them they could spend a whole life stage in jail. For example they hit someone as a teenager and they don't get out of jail till they're an adult. It would also be interesting if their reputation/karma could effect the consequences of their crime. Like if a zoi with a great reputation who has never committed a crime before steals they will get a lesser sentence than a zoi who has a bad reputation and has stolen before. It would also be really cool if jail wasn't a rabbit hole. I don't know if that's possible, but the idea of having to actually play through jail and face the consequences of your actions would be awesome. Having family members and friends be able to visit you in jail would also be great. I would also love to see the impact of their actions after the crime. For example if my character hits another zoi then that zoi and his friends/family/partner will have a very negative opinion of my zoi. And on the flip side if i help someone then they will have a positive opinion of my zoi and their friends/family/partner will too. I think this really opens up interesting ideas and concepts for unique characters and relationships. Sorry for writing so much i got carried away. Thank you kjun and the rest of your team for always working so hard and caring about our opinions! Psycat_Holiday_Sparkle

Hello kjun and everyone happy 2025 i cant wait my 2025 highlight is literlly inzoi im so excited!!! I think the zois being locked up for like 1 or 2 zoi days for stealing is not a bad idea if only the police station was NOT a rabbit hole i hope later down the track this wont be a rabbit hole so we can also have a police carreer ourselfs... i agree there should deffiantly be crime in the game as this is a real life thing but ofcourse more fun/funnier way in inzoi i am glad use are not putting annoying helicopters chasing us etc like in gta and keeping it more fun freindly! Another crime i reallly want there to be is burgerlers/thiefs comming to our homes at night or when we are not home and we have to call the police so they can check what is missing from your property and once they catch the thief somehow... they have to pay all the money back to us or if they refuse they have to go to jail for like 5 inzoi days or something like that 🙂 tbh the crime side is not to much of a biggy for me aslong as its there a little but like i said would be great if the police station at some point was not a rabbit hole... but honestly im hoping more the SCHOOLS and hospitals wont be rabbit holes the most this would be the most fun gameplay/ teacher/doctor carreer. I cant wait there is soooo much great potentioal to inzois future! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 lets gooo march!!!

Happy new year! I think a rabbit hole prison would be fine but it would be nice to get at least a cut scene of our time in prison. As others have said it would be cool to get options to to pay a fine or go to jail for certain crimes while worse crimes would require jail time. It would be cool to have a probation period once we get out of jail as well and to see our crimes impact our reputation/karma and career development at least temporarily. It would also be cool if we had to do mandatory committee service or counseling/rehab as I've seen volunteering and counseling already in the game.

Put the crime. Low to extreme. Make it a slider just like how you can adjust the health of the neighborhood, make it a slider for how bad crime is in the area. You can always start off small and with updates add new crimes just to see how it all works out. As others suggested for punishment is good were it effects karma, reputation etc and add jail, house arrest, community service etc for all that.

#

I'm perfectly okay with jail being a passive rabbit hole. However, it would be interesting if there were alternate options (like someone else mentioned house arrest or fines). I also feel that there should be a way to get out of being sentenced all together. For example, if there is a zoi with a negative reputation around, maybe you could frame it on them---but it wouldn't work as well with a zoi with a positive reputation/clean record. I'm not sure how difficult that would be to implement into gameplay, but I do feel like it would be an interesting way to manipulate and use the karma system to your zoi's advantage.

Another fun idea: maybe zois that have a good relationship with a zoi who went to jail/prison could get some kind of negative moodlet and be generally glum that their family member is incarcerated, whereas zois that don't have that good of a relationship might not care as much.

dense stream
#

I know the game is in early access so I know a lot of these features are subject to change later down the line, but I think personally the idea of being able to spend your time in the Jail with a fixed routine as mentioned by a few others here would be an amazing feature, however you can still switch to another Zoi if you don't wish to stay in Jail for the whole time. I also feel this could lead to being able to work as an officer or a detective (I'm thinking about making a thread on a detective job soon)

As for chases from the police, I think if a Zoi is caught stealing and the authorities are called, you should have a short window to try to leave the scene before the cops get there. On another note if you are caught stealing and are found by the police I think the thought of on foot chase would be fun, in this instance you can make it very difficult to run from the police where they're faster than you and could over power most Zois. But that still leaves the ability to escape from the cops, in which you could make a system where your Zoi has to lay low for a few days, maybe 5 at most. Additionally if a Zoi run from the police their sentence should be extended to also maybe about 5 days, it should definitely be longer than if you willingly turn yourself in.

As for vehicle crimes, speeding, hit n run, and more
Some should just come with a warning while others require you to spend a night in Jail. Again if you run from the cop it is insanely difficult to out run them and getting caught will worsen the punishment of your crime.

Additionally some other crimes I'd like to see in Inzoi is

Murder [It doesn't have to be explicit and I understand if it doesn't make it into the game at all]

Assault [Like fighting, hurting another Zoi, stuff like that]

Armed Robbery [Again this is one that might not make it into the game, but I think the ability of rob stores a little more aggressively would be an interesting feature]

Vehicle Theft [I don't have much to say on this one]

Petty Theft [Like stealing a Zoi's purse, phone, wallet, ect]

Breaking an entering [As someone who enjoys stealthy games the thought of being able to break in and steal things seems fun, however I'd understand if this wasn't added]

And there are more crimes to list but this is fine, a bigger reason I'd like crime in InZoi is the ability to witness or experience these encounters like in the real world. Being caught in the middle of a store robbery would be an exciting yet scary turn of events! Which could lead to some pretty interesting encounters with Zois. For example if you recognize a Zoi from a robbery you could call the authorities and see the Zoi get arrested. This could also implement some Zois being nervous around law enforcement if they've been arrested before.

Lastly to end off, this should 100% being something you can adjust with a slider, whether it's all crime in general or sliders for each crime,

Using Theft purely as an example, you could turn the slider for specifically Theft from 0 to 100(?)
This way you can have no Theft at all or very rarely have it happen, or have happen slightly more often the higher you set it, which could lead to your Zoi getting robbed at least once in their lifespan.

However in the subject of crime I think you should consider, https://discord.com/channels/1162040845181124618/1282316769561804810

I don't want this game to be heavy on adult themes, but I would like to seem some adult themes in the game so all audiences can enjoy. Thank you for reading this! and I hope these don't seem like bad ideas :>

Everyone I wish you a good day! <3

I imagine adding more complexity to the legal system in Inzoi, creating various narrative possibilities, from rehabilitation to building a life as a fugitive:

Point_Green Prison visits:

Adult family members could visit imprisoned ZOIs, bringing food, clothes, and basic items to improve their condition. These visits would be interactive, potentially strengthening family bonds or even causing conflicts, depending on their history.

Point_Red Bribes and privileges:

Players could bribe guards to grant ZOIs access to privileges such as phones, computers, or luxury items. However, if the bribe were discovered, it could lead to penalties, such as an increased sentence.

Point_Green Judicial process:

Submitting documents to court: Players would have a deadline, such as 3 in-game days, to send documents or evidence prepared by the ZOI's lawyer as part of their defense.

Court hearing: This event would determine the ZOI's fate, with the judge deciding between freedom, house arrest, or a prison sentence.

Point_Red Escape from the country:

Fake passports: Players could forge documents to help the ZOI escape justice, but this would require specific resources and contacts.
Evading surveillance at airports: To escape, players would need to avoid detection at checkpoints and airports, risking capture if recognized.

Consequences of fleeing: If successful, the ZOI would become a fugitive. The police would circulate their photo and description, limiting the character's interactions and movements in the game world.

#

Point_Red Life in Prison
Imprisoned ZOIs could have a fixed routine with mandatory activities such as meals, forced labor (in more authoritarian prisons), and leisure time. Within the prison, inmates could interact with one another, forming friendships or rivalries, joining gangs, or even getting involved in fights. Additionally, the ZOI's reputation in prison would play a role: respected inmates might receive favors, while those with a poor reputation could face intimidation or exclusion.

Point_Green Reform and Redemption
ZOIs would also have the opportunity to participate in rehabilitation programs such as classes, therapy sessions, or volunteer work. These activities could help reduce their sentence while improving their skills. The player would have the choice to guide the ZOI toward genuine change or to have them fake it for personal gain – a decision that would affect future interactions.

Point_Red Justice System and Sentence Review
Imagine a system where an imprisoned ZOI could request a review of their sentence. The outcome would depend on their good behavior in prison or new evidence presented. Family members or influential friends could support the ZOI by hiring high-profile lawyers or even bribing judges to increase their chances of a favorable outcome.

Point_Green Prison Work and Benefits
Inside the prison, ZOIs could take on jobs such as working in kitchens, workshops, or general services, earning money or learning new skills in the process. Additionally, the prison could have its own internal economy, where inmates trade items based on their usefulness or rarity.

chilly condor
#

Point_Red Types of Prisons

Each prison could vary in security level—minimum, medium, or maximum—depending on the severity of the ZOI's crime. To add more depth, each prison could reflect the culture and government system of the region, showcasing differences in conditions and rules for the inmates.

Point_Green Post-Prison Life

After serving their sentence, life wouldn’t be easy for the ZOI. They might face challenges finding a job, rebuilding relationships, or reintegrating into society. The player would have the choice to guide the ZOI toward an honest life or allow them to fall back into crime, shaping their future path in the game.

Point_Red Adding the option to lie during conversations in Inzoi would make social interactions and the criminal life of ZOIs even more engaging.

This mechanic would allow players to choose between telling the truth or lying, knowing that each decision would bring positive or negative consequences depending on the context and relationships involved.

In the life of a criminal ZOI, lying could serve as a powerful and strategic tool to evade investigations, manipulate allies, or even deceive authorities. For example:

During an interrogation, the ZOI could lie to conceal their involvement in a crime.

Forging alibis or misleading witnesses could be another way to protect their identity or actions.

However, discovered lies could have serious repercussions. The ZOI might face harsher sentences, lose valuable allies in the criminal underworld, or even become a target for enemies seeking revenge.

This mechanic would add tension and strategic choices to the game, making us think carefully, as every decision would impact the lives of our ZOIs, making each interaction more meaningful and impactful.

I agree 💯! It also doesn't make sense that we have a police station with jail cells but jail time is a rabbit hole? That feels like a disconnection. Then it leads me to believe that the only fire the fire department will be putting out is the fake fire at work. That means that some of the jobs don't help the game evolve. I believe every job should evolve your game by the different decisions that each player makes.

That feels similar to the police career in the Sims 4 that didn't affect or evolve anything else in the game. It was all shallow interactions that ended with your shift. The criminals were the same NPCs. I only played the police career twice because it wasn't replayable. That was quite disappointing. I wanted to see things like Nancy Landgraab arrested on the 6'o clock news. Then I wanted the other Sims look at her like oh that's why she got so much money.

Thank you inZOI and Kjun for always bringing us so many surprises. In fact, I was surprised when I saw the rabbit hole. I thought it was a rabbit hole and there would be a lot of rabbits in it. But the prison is a rabbit hole and it’s quite cute. I guess the first place should be Fire

I would like to see a well-developed judicial system, that there would be punishments, restrictions and also if for example I could witness a crime, I don't need tanks and helicopters, but I would like to see restrictions, courts, punishments. Even if a couple does not watch the child, I would like to see a system of punishment for this, for example, checks, fines, court and then weaning of the child

Happy 2025, Kjun! It's great to hear from you again!

I have a suggestion for this concept that includes an additional factor related to the personality of the Zoi specifically, their values or habits gained throughout their life. If a Zoi develops low values or bad habits (such as stealing), they would autonomously steal, adding an element of unpredictability to the game. This way, each Zoi's behavior is unique based on their personal values.

Regarding the punishment concept, I suggest incorporating a court system to determine whether a Zoi is guilty or not. If found guilty and they are the only playable Zoi in the household, they would be sent to a rabbit hole jail. The jail icon could have a pie menu with options for the player's input on how the Zoi behaves in prison, such as behaving well (with a chance for early release), misbehaving, making friends, joining a gang, engaging in random scenarios, or attempting to escape.
I also propose that crimes have lasting consequences. For instance, while in prison, the Zoi might meet other criminals, and upon release, they could be denied from certain careers due to their criminal record.

I understand this might be complex to implement, but incorporating values and habits could significantly improve the gameplay around crime and character behavior Psycat_Blush

I find the idea of criminal behaviors being interconnected with the ZOI's character/personality and life history quite interesting. In TS2, family relationships had a significant impact on a child, even to the extreme of running away from home. In inZOI, unstable family structures could influence the ZOI's behavior, potentially leading to criminal actions.

Character could be considered the main factor in this. For instance, if we create an honest ZOI, the option to steal could be blocked because it doesn't align with their character. This way, playing with different personality types would make more sense within the game, offering diverse gameplay experiences.

In another scenario, a clumsy ZOI could have a significantly lower success rate at stealing compared to a "confident" ZOI. This would add a more "RPG-like" element to the game, requiring players to truly interpret and adapt to the traits of different ZOIs.

I made a post about this,
But I'll summarize. I think it's a good start so that we don't work with too much graphic exposure of weapons, but still make sure that crime is present and alive.

Psycat_ThumbsUp Let's start with the*** reputation ***system. Our character or other NPCs could develop a bad reputation in different ways. In addition to being mean to others, how about we add something like "suspicious activity"?

**Some characters may develop strange habits such as: **

• Steal small objects.
• Taking photos of strangers without their consent.
• See your neighbors hiding suspicious objects in the trunk of the car or in the trash can.
• See your neighbors having the habit of arriving home very late, having parties at home very frequently or even do very strange things while sleepwalking.

These are just a few ideas that might make other characters notice your strange behavior. And of course, many of these activities seen or practiced may just be a misunderstanding. But once you're caught red-handed doing something suspicious, your reputation could quickly fall.

Police Intervention:

  • Contextual Response: Police react to the severity of the crime (e.g., an invasion generates a faster response than a small theft).
  • Dynamic Paths: Police have predefined patrols, but adjust routes based on reports or suspicious activity.
In general, police should be more alert in places where there is an increasing crime rate, conducting more frequent patrols, according to the severity. This would require a more intelligent AI. Not only should AI be applied to police, but to the individuals themselves. An individual who was robbed in a place X, may avoid passing through this same place, creating a "trauma", which will force the individual to be more cautious or create fear/phobia that they did not have before, such as going out alone at night, for example. So, I think to make these systems more realistic and immersive, it would be a very intelligent and contextual use of AI, as well as a memory system so that the ZOI in question actually feels affected and changes its behavior.
robust frost
#

What if my suspicious activities are frequent and not just a misunderstanding? Well then you can embrace a criminal career.

• You can start running online scams or go out on the streets to try your luck stealing drink machines. Whatever comes your way for some easy, dishonest money. You can just be an ordinary thief, working alone and discreetly.

• Later, if your Zoi becomes more evil and greedy, you can join some gang to start robbing the streets. Just with a threatening approach to take some money from ordinary and unlucky citizens.

I made this post as a way to make thieves more modern and realistic, thinking about the concept of "suspicious activity". Not everyone who appears suspicious is in fact a criminal. Not every criminal is a home invader. Many criminals live discreetly in society until they are discovered. It is our duty as citizens to recognize when something is strange or crossing the line.

#

🤔 What can I do if I notice suspicious activity?

Suspicious activity can be reported by phone or at the police station. But be careful! Reporting someone unfairly can result in a fine for improper reporting.
Likewise, your character can be reported too.

🎴 And how can the "karma" and "tarot" system interfere with a criminal career?
If you are an ordinary citizen and have an unlucky day, the chances of being robbed on the street can increase significantly, as are the chances of having your home broken into at night while you sleep.
However, if you are a criminal, the consequences of a careless action can be much worse. This may not be your lucky day and you will end up in prison.

🦝 🚔 With big gains come big risks. What would happen if my character was caught by Police?

What that I hope happens is that our character goes to** real** prison. The prison could be an entirely separate and isolated map. We would** not** have access to a view of outside. Do you don't know what is happening in the cities. The player only see a landscape with vegetation from the window, as if we were truly isolated. The prison would have its own routine dynamics, gameplay and exclusive NPCs. Overall, something very boring and monotonous, just like a real prison. However, the player could use creativity to make even his "punishment" into something interesting. There are many types of unique information and experiences inside the prison.

The other solution was mentioned by Kjun himself. A prison rabbit hole, so the player could temporarily choose another character to control. But personally, I wish we could choose between the two options.

I agree, a balance between good and bad is necessary for a true reflection of real life. I really like a lot of the ideas that have already been suggested, particularly opening up the jail lot to be playable. As for different crimes, something I didn't see suggested or maybe I missed it: organized crimes. Street gangs could stake out stores and homes from their central base and execute on a plan for a big robbery. Use of any weapons wouldn't be necessary as it would probably raise the rating too much, if you're all worried about that.

robust frost
#

Now some extra dynamics that I would like to see in cities.

We, as players, could select zones in the city that we consider "dangerous". In these areas, the crime rate would be higher. Our Zois could feel more insecure and paranoid in these areas, perhaps hurrying up to get home quickly. Furthermore, certain neighborhoods could be considered autonomously "dangerous" by citizens, if crimes occurred there more frequently due to the player's influence. Becoming a neighborhood with a "bad reputation" to live in. Residents could eventually comment on this in casual conversation.
I tend to consume media that talks about Korean and Japanese mafias, so I would like to see some of those elements in Inzoi, even if they can't be explicitly addressed.

Just to make it clear. When I talk about "major crime incidents" I am once again referring to something much more implicit and psychological. I don't mean firearms being fired or anything disturbing. However, it would be very interesting to see our Zois reacting to real danger. Talking about it, feeling insecure or paranoid, checking doors and curtains at night, or suffering some type of psychological trauma from being robbed, becoming someone who is a coward to fights.

Point_Green When robbing smaller stores, the ZOI could place money or items directly into their pockets, as it is simpler and quicker. This would work well for smaller heists. However, for larger crimes, such as robbing big safes or banks, the ZOI would need travel bags or larger sacks to carry the money. These bags could be purchased beforehand, and there would be animations showing the ZOI filling the bags with money.

Point_Red Additionally, the ZOI would carry the full bag with an animation that showed the weight of the money. For bigger missions, like bank robberies, there could be large black cars used to transport the criminal crew and the money-filled bags. The team could wear masks to cover their faces, adding more immersion to the scene. Finally, it would be possible to store the bags in the car’s trunk, increasing the strategy and realism of executing the crime. It could also be possible to take hostages during the crime, especially the people who are part of the crew.

Point_Green The ZOI could demand a car to escape, and they could also interact with the hostages and the crew during the escape. This would add more depth, with the ZOI needing to manage the crew, decide who enters the car, and plan the getaway. If things go wrong, there could be a high-stakes chase or consequences for the people involved, including the hostages.

chilly condor
#

It could also be possible to have different types of police cars involved in the chase.

Depending on the situation, the police might use different vehicles, such as regular patrol cars, SUVs, or even specialized cars like police vans or helicopters for aerial surveillance. This would make the escape more challenging, as the ZOI would have to deal with a variety of police vehicles, each with different speeds and tactics. It would add another layer of strategy to the escape, with the ZOI needing to choose the right getaway route and car to evade the police.

Car Damage System:

Collision, Dents, and Damage: While driving, the ZOI could get involved in accidents, whether due to recklessness, chases, or other factors. As a result, the car could suffer dents, broken windows, and engine damage. These damages would be visible, and the car could continue functioning with flaws until it is repaired.

Rollover: In more serious accidents, the car could roll over. This could be an impactful animation where the ZOI is temporarily trapped inside the car or needs to exit quickly, depending on the severity of the accident. If the car is heavily damaged, it could be rendered useless and require towing or repair services.

Public and Game Reactions:
Chases: If the ZOI is escaping the police or participating in action missions, the damage to the car could affect its ability to escape, making the chase more challenging.

Emergency Repairs: During missions or escape situations, the ZOI could perform quick repairs using tools or items found along the way, adding a layer of realism and urgency to the game.

I mentioned this in another post. But I'd like to see organized crime between more than one person be a thing. To steal from public lots like museums, car dealerships, jewerly stores, and banks, etc. Like for example when it's at night and no one is really around they could steal from museums.
Or even in broad daylight, but their stealth would need to be high enough to steal something smaller like jewelry and clothes.

Point_Green Forming a Mafia: The ZOI could be recruited into a mafia, or, depending on the choices made, could even create their own criminal organization. This could happen through interactions with other powerful members or after successfully completing criminal activities.

Point_Green Power and Influence: By getting involved with the mafia, the ZOI would have access to resources, protection, and the ability to influence events around them. This would include paying corrupt police officers, bribing politicians, and using the mafia to expand their network of power. The ZOI could also use the mafia to commit large-scale crimes, such as extortion, trafficking, or even murders.

Point_Red Territory and Fear on the Streets: As the mafia grows, the ZOI could establish territory on the streets, where their presence is feared and respected. People in the game would fear the mafia, which would add a sense of power to the ZOI, who could use their influence to control areas and other groups within the city.

Point_Green Blackmail and Manipulation: The ZOI could use blackmail and manipulation to force other characters to do their bidding. This could include blackmailing politicians or public figures, threatening their families or secrets, or even forcing other mafia members to follow their orders.

Point_Red Recruiting New Members: The ZOI could recruit other ZOIs to join the mafia, thus increasing the strength and influence of the group. This would involve convincing other ZOIs to join the organization, offering protection, money, and power in exchange for loyalty.

PART ONE:
I think regarding sentencing time for certain crimes should vary I don't think one to three days is enough amount of time. Especially if we have the option to change the length of time that passes in the game 40 minutes in real time = one day day in Inzoi, or 24 real hours = one full day in Inzoi.

Id like to see those days change based on how we adjust the time in game settings.

These are just Examples
Shoplifting: 1 day
Home invasion: 3-14 days
Grand theft: could be months
Bank robbery: could be months lol

I feel in the grand scheme of things that it would be better if we could manually set how long jail sentencing and prison sentencing could extend for such as days, months, years, in the game. Versus it being set category of days.

And another idea I think would be cool is if your crime is very great; say home invasion robbery or heists. There should be Court hearings your character would have to attend. So first you would go to jail for a couple of days, then you would have a post bail, then you would be given the option to hire a lawyer, then you would be given the option to call family and friends to pay your bail and if they can't pay your bail, then you would go to a court hearing. Then you would be sent to prison for x amount of days, months, years.

(More to be added to be continued below in Part 2,3,4,5)

# chilly condor <:Point_Green:1302829891498147861> Forming a Mafia: The ZOI could be recruited i...

Point_Green Mafia as a Business: The mafia could operate similarly to a successful corporation, with both legitimate and illegitimate businesses generating money. The ZOI could manage these "businesses" and make decisions about which areas to expand, what activities to engage in, and how to protect their interests.

Point_Red Consequences and Rivalries: As the mafia boss, the ZOI would face challenges from rival gangs or mafiosos, creating conflicts and opportunities to showcase power. Being the leader of a mafia would come with great responsibilities, such as protecting the organization from external attacks and ensuring that all members follow the rules.

Point_Red Status and Power: The ZOI, by leading a mafia, would be a powerful figure within the game, either being respected or feared by others. The ZOI's status would depend on the choices made throughout the game – they could either be a feared and revered mafia boss or a ruthless dictator ruling by fear and force.

This is what I would like:

If they murdered someone, then...if they're rich and can afford a lawyer, maybe they get away with it (maybe roll a die, like in BG3, for random outcome). if they are found guilty, then that's THE END. LOL. maybe a cut scene. (because it's family friendly, maybe it's a life behind bars, but you as a player, cannot play with this character anymore).
I think a cut scene would be nice (with an option to skip).

If they got charged for mischief of theft, then they lose like x days (depending on severity) + fine + maybe legal fees. Again a jail cut scene would be nice (with an option to skip)>

Point_Yellow Document Forgery:

The ZOI has full control over the creation and alteration of their identity, offering options to customize the name, nationality, and history.
Additionally, the use of forged documents adds a layer of strategic gameplay, where the player can choose to use, eliminate, or replace the fake identities as needed. Challenges and costs make the mechanic more engaging, as the player must balance expenses with benefits and deal with the risks of being discovered.

Point_Yellow Marriage as a Scam:

Marriage is used as a tool to access resources and deceive another person. Building a solid relationship with the partner before executing the scam is an interesting strategic approach. The risk of being caught during or after the scam adds an element of tension and challenge to the dynamics of the game.

Point_Yellow Changing Identity:

The ZOI can change their appearance to deceive people and escape investigations. This includes physical changes like plastic surgery and haircuts, but also more subtle disguises like makeup, tattoos, and contact lenses. This change in appearance aligns with the goal of hiding or escaping the consequences of a failed scam.

PART TWO
Public & Police Reactions to Crime

I feel the general public (NPCs)should sometimes report crimes to the police, but we also have the option to report a crime whenever we want with our active character’s phone. Such as to name a few: when if they see shoplifting, someone fighting, breaking into cars, people stealing from grocery stores, or if there’s a car crash. Versus the game reporting the crime to the police automatically, it feels very unrealistic when that happens, like in the demo for example when one person shoplifted they automatically got a text message. I feel the customers or the retail clerk should be seen calling the police or at least approach them first before calling the police. I think it’d be very cool if we can see others who are actively calling the police, but we should also have the opportunity to bribe them not to call the police while they’re in the middle of this call.

Ambulances: if there’s car crashes and injuries
Fire trucks: if there’s fires

I would love to see levels of chases, police car > squad of police > SWAT > helicopters. But it would depend off the severity of the crime. We need options to hide too: in alleyways, in cars, or even running into someone’s home or hiding in a public bathroom, to make the police cool off a bit.

See breaking news stories about crime (you or others) on the TV that has your character’s picture pop up with it, or hearing it on the radio in closed caption text.

People noticing you are a criminal based on your public crimes and actions or being mentioned on the TV. Could create tension, whispers, people leaving the area.

NEW Create-A-Zoi OPTION

  • Create a disguise outfit category. This would allow you to change your hair color/style, facial features beards, tattoos, piercings, eye color (would be like contacts), change name. So when you wear this others will not recognize your character. When they switch back to their normal attire and name others will recognize them again.

# chilly condor <:Point_Yellow:1302829887135940670> Document Forgery: The ZOI has full control ...

Point_Yellow Forming Alliances for Theft:

The idea of forming temporary alliances to facilitate thefts and scams brings a layer of social interaction and trust, where the ZOI must be careful about who they align with. This could lead to betrayals and surprises, making the heist plans even more exciting and unpredictable.

Complex Heist Plans require a higher level of planning, increasing the complexity and reward of pulling off large-scale heists.

I like the idea of minor crimes such as robbery (in a house or bank), hacking systems, pickpocketing, shoplifting, polluting, making graffiti in public lots, not observing traffic laws (that one would be funny as most of us don't know how to drive but let's keep it optional), or scamming Zois. If a playable prison gameplay or court hearing (if necessary) isn't possible, I would gladly enjoy a little cutscene with your Zoi behind bars. I understand that there are players expecting to have the option to be messy, silly, and have fun but honestly, as a cozy player playing a criminal or just considering the probability of unwanted murder (by npcs) in my game would feel pretty scary. I mean I also love playing games seen as violent like Warframe but do we want murder in Animal Crossing? I don't think so, there is a place and a limit to everything. Then, if murder, weapons, mental or physical aggressions, schemes, or any kind of fighting gets added I would prefer to keep it optional, appropriate, and not default (especially for children above the PEGI). Giving adapted resources to modders would also be a nice alternative that matches with those criterias. Finally, it has to be in accordance with the main message and perspective that Inzoi wants to convey on life (though having consequences for bad deeds is also a lesson for players). But that's only my opinion 🙂 Of course, I don't want to mess up the game for others. But, they should also consider the perspectives of players like me or younger players so that we can eventually reach a feasible common ground. Sorry for the long comment and thanks for reading it 😅

I've never been particularly drawn to crime mechanics in games like these, but I can appreciate that many players desire more serious and realistic gameplay, especially in a Life Sim with realistic graphics and an open-world structure that compares to games like Grand Theft Auto, and I'm glad you guys on the Dev team are considering it.

Here's some of my suggestions:

  • Players could have the option to break into a shop or another Zoi's home to steal items. Similarly, non-player Zois could attempt to rob the player's household.
  • If caught, the offending Zoi could spend up to three or more in-game days in jail (depending on your time settings). I do not think we need to play in a prison, even if it would be a little fun.
  • For non-player Zois robbing the player's household, similar rules could apply, where they are temporarily "removed" from gameplay due to incarceration.
  • Players could have the choice to call the police if they witness a robbery. This adds some personal responsibility and a chance to influence outcomes in the game. The moral dilemma could add some depth to people's experience.
  • A Zoi caught committing burglary should experience a decline in their karma along with the spreading of rumors.
  • For victims of robbery, the event could trigger sympathy-based interactions with their close circle of friends or family. Other Zois might ask, "Are you okay?" or offer support for the loss. Maybe some of their friends could even offer to help them financially.

I've heard we can get run over by cars and die, so what are the consequences if we choose to run over someone else?

My suggestions:

  • Arrested and jailed for a longer number of in-game days vs robbery or other petty crimes.
  • Heavy fines that could cripple your household or even the seizure of your vehicle.
  • Friends might stop associating with you.
  • Local NPCs might refuse to interact or assist your Zoi.
  • Players might face lawsuits or have to pay damages to the victim’s family.
  • If the victim survives they could sue the player or seek revenge through in-game actions (e.g., keying your car, destroying your property at night, 'pranking' you by throwing eggs at your windows, leaving bags of puppy poo on the front porch, or maybe even spread rumors about you).
  • If the victim dies their friends, family, or associates might target your Zoi for retaliation. You could also lose business opportunities, friendships, partners might break up with you, etc.
  • Some players might appreciate a mechanic where their Zoi becomes guilt-ridden after such crimes, which could lead to your Zoi's mood being down for days, and could express remorse to friends and family or lack thereof.

PART THREE
**New Traits and Skills could be added: **

Traits:

  • Snitch (tells on everyone about everything but crafty about it, double agent criminal who can work with police and gangs)
  • Pollyanna (if someone does a crime they still believe someone is good somewhere deep inside)
  • Loyalist (Someone who minds their business and isn’t looking to snitch on anyone, keep secrets but notices crime going on around them)

Skills

  • Stealth (crouching and hiding more successfully, and not being seen/noticed as much)
  • Hacking (accessing/hacking servers, security alarms, traffic lights, picking locks, unlocking police radios they can listen to, unauthorized access zones)
  • Pickpocketing
  • Observant (able to scout of camera, security, police easier etc.)
  • Low profile (able to not draw attention to themselves when pursuing/committing crimes, disguises work 80% better than if a zoi didn’t have this skill)
  • Self-Defense (anyone can learn self-defense moves to ward off criminals its probability be 50% successful)

New Interactions:

Create a reputation for yourself on the black market for having unique items or for selling the most.
As an ordinary inzoi being able to buy off the black market from reputable dealers. For: vehicles, jewelry, houses, land, electronics etc.
Report a Crime
Being bribed by your company bosses or friends to commit crimes for them or with them
If your place of employment hears of your crimes you could become unemployed
Court hearings and trials after being jailed
Learn self defense moves by taking a class at the community center
Hiring a lawyer to defend you in court
Ask another Inzoi to walk your character home for safety or be asked if they could be walked home

Like another person commented above I think there should be ways for modders to add onto the criminal system, crime, animations, and consequences in the game that may not be on the appropriate level with the game’s rating. But having the option to make it happen is very important.

The great success of The Sims franchise is the simulation game. You can create a simulation of life, being born, growing up, studying, working, going to clubs, dating, getting married, having children, in short, everything we know The Sims has.
The great success of the GTA/Red Dead Redemption franchise is the action part, which everyone knows what it is.
Inzoi does have to be complete, because by combining the two The Sims + GTA, and thinking about monetization, profit, and attracting global players, we know in the long term that it will be successful and will attract many players.

In my opinion, there must be a simple option in Inzoi's game settings, which would be the following:

Crime in the city

  • Yes
  • No

Or this option:

Crime in the city:

  • Low
  • Average
  • High
  • Super loud

Only this option, and then the player chooses whether he wants to or not, simple as that.

We know there will be a lot of thoughts, creativity and ideas on this topic in this post.

In my opinion, in the future you can even think about a deep DLC on this topic.

If we think about the long-term future, an online mode would be interesting, an RP mode like GTA.

Have you ever thought how incredible this mix of The Sims + GTA would be, this would be a giant successful cinematic evolution and will attract many players all over the world.

I hope Inzoi has more elaborate DLCs than The Sims, less and more elaborate DLCs.

I really want to thank Kjun and the entire Inzoi development team, congratulations on bringing us this incredible game that will be even more incredible in the long run.

Thank you for your affection and dedication, for caring about the public and the players. Remember that the Brazilian public 🇧🇷 tomorrow and they really like simulation games, if possible in the future bring a Brazilian map, we would be happy and represented within the game.

Anyway, this is just my opinion, thank you; )

Excited you’re actually entertaining the idea. I feel that criminal activity will add a level of nuisance to the game that makes it feel more fleshed out and meaningful.

I would love it if you added a criminal career option. Rabbit hole is appropriate but there should be some mechanic where the higher your ranking is as a criminal the harder it will be to get caught and kept in jail but the stakes become higher as far as punishment goes.

Yes!!! I believe that Inzoi should be more than just a game; it needs to be a deep and transformative life simulator. A space where we can truly experience both the most beautiful moments and the challenges that help us grow. The game should reflect real life in its entirety, bringing experiences that connect, move, and inspire us.

For me, a life simulator needs to find balance. Life is not made up of perfect moments alone. We want an environment where we can face difficult situations, learn from them, and grow through those experiences. Inzoi should allow each player to deeply engage in the stories, feeling the consequences of their choices, whether in the short or long term, just like in real life. It’s about exploring the wonders of life while also dealing with its more challenging moments.

A truly innovative life simulator combines fun and realism. Happy and challenging moments must intertwine to create rich and immersive narratives, where every emotion is felt, and every decision has an impact.

I want Inzoi to be a space where we can dream, be inspired, and learn, showing that life, with all its highs and lows, is always special. When we start playing, we don’t know exactly what the future holds – and that uncertainty, combined with endless possibilities, is what makes the experience so unique and magical.

Another thing I can imagine is setting up a neighborhood with the settings as apocalyptic as they can get, then working through some player designed challenges to improve the system. It might be interesting if, maybe one day, with the addition of a political career, to add a way to adjust these settings within the game. A better skilled mayor (or whatever you call them) can improve the city's economy, making it pretty and lower crime. (I'd still add a setting to freeze settings, in case you want to play with the career and not change this, though)

I am thinking on how exactly to make getting caught interesting. Obviously, if you do crime in front of a police officer, something should happen. But we don't want the whole GTA manhunt thing either.

I'm thinking an officer could be in, well to use a Robocop term, "Arrest Mode". If the officer sees a criminal they start moving towards them with an "Arrest" interaction. If they get into melee range, it fires and the criminal gets arrested. Think of it as playing tag for keeps.

Have the officer sound off, like "Hold it right there!" so you know the chase is on and make it so "Arrest" times out if you break line of sight for a certain amount of time. The officer will move to where it last saw you and scout around. If another officer sees an officer in "Arrest Mode", they will join in.

As for keeping the player informed, I think "[Name] got arrested for [Crime]" should be a notification that you get even if it's an NPC. Since that probably means someone's Karma is tanking, so you might need to intervene.

Also if a criminal gets away, send a warning to every Zoi's phone which does horrible things to the criminal's reputation. "[Name] is wanted by the police, report all sighting to [Officer]!"

PART FOUR

**Neighborhoods gaining reputation for either low or high crime. **
When and if the team decides to add neighborhoods within the world. They could each have their reputations for crime the # of gangs in the area, types of crime that happens, and victim types. This could influence the amount of people moving in and out of that neighborhood and also how happy they are

**Stores gaining reputation for either low or high crime. **

  • Each store could indicate if its susceptible to more crime depending on the location, hours of operation etc. This can cause shoppers to feel uneasy going into the store or more relaxed while shopping. This will increase or decrease your sales if you’re the owner.
  • More or less likely a victim of a crime based on location
  • If more gangs activity happens that store there can be ways for the owner to cut a deal with the gangs to give them money if they do XYZ. They won’t call the cops, they won’t report them, if police come around they’ll deny the allegations etc.

Age related crimes
**Kids and Pre-teens: **Now I know how some might feel about kids being able to commit crimes. But if the team ends up allowing it. I think petty crimes like stealing candy, items, or food in stores. They can be punished for their crimes by doing community service or expulsion from school.
Teens: Jail time or community service punishment would be permissible for teens as well, including expulsion from school.

Dating & Friendships
Could be interesting gameplay mechanics. They could appear more or less attractive to a person if they’re the criminal “bad boy” or “bad girl” type. Depending on the traits attracted to romantically in a partner. They could get reputation for only dating bad boy/girls or hanging out with them. On the other hand, it could cause others to be turned off and not pursue a relationship or friendship with that individual.

But I do want to reiterate my former comment and what someone else said about mods. Which is very important to a lot of us.
Please allow the game mechanics to create great mods for this type of play style beyond the foundation in the game. Everyone is going to play differently in their game and have different stories and even machinima they create, and that's to be expected. But for those of us who want to add more GTA or R rated themed mods in the game later, needs to also be a possibility. The fact you have cars being able to hit others was a good move to keep in, as that's something that's steered away from, and it opens so many doors for future scenarios and gameplay that can be built off of. I cant wait to see what the team brings to the game on this topic 😄

I thought this was about another type of naughty Zois. 😅 Glad to see these types of systems making it into the game though. Disrupting the simulation is always part of the fun in these games. Really feels like there's a solid foundation with Inzoi to build on. Can't wait for early access launch!

Crime and punishment don't seem to get a lot of love in life sims in general. So my two cents:

I'm very interested in both sides of the coin. I'm eager to try playing as both police zois and criminals. So I hope I can provide at least some decent thinking material.

The biggest thing I'd like to see is, if even feasible, some sort of rudimentary court system. If a Zoi is arrested, let them hire a lawyer.

Even in a rabbit hole of a court building, two lawyers could argue to a judge. The outcome could be based on charisma/logic-type skills and relationship with the judge. Get out earlier, found not guilty, or serve the full sentence. It adds a dynamic system that could effect economy and how zois spend time in jail/prison.

To take it a step further, model a basic courtroom/courthouse. Criminals, police, lawyers, judges could all assemble for trials. The lawyers could have basic action options that +/- the chance of a favorable outcome. Judge makes a decision based on the scores on each side.

For both police and criminals, crimes that can be investigated. Things that aren't simply 'see if happen, arrest'. Potentially have crimes that require some digging. Allows functions for detectives and criminals who may try to plan things out.

Jail as a rabbit hole works but it would be nice to at least have a basic cell at the police station where a criminal is 'processed' before being taken off-map or elsewhere to the actual detention center/jail. Still allows interactions through the process.

I'm guessing this game won't allow for full violence, which is fine. But you can still do things like white collar crime (fraud/embezzlement), robbery, breaking & entering, racketeering, illegal gambling, arson/firestarting, driving without a licence...

And on that last note; I know the opening post mentioned outlandish chases. While I'm definitely not in favor of them, it would be interesting to be able to get pulled over/pull Zois over for things like speeding or driving dangerously. I know driving is going to be a thing, it'd be nice to see proper driving enforced by characters.

Okay 3am rant done. I sleep.

# grizzled lotus Wishing you all a great start to 2025 🎉 Our next topic has been, to say the le...

@grizzled lotus Congratulations to you and your team for your initiative on offenses and for listening to the community's feedback.

Are you considering an open beta testing program where players, especially programmers or analysts, can report bugs or security issues in relation to this and the game?

Are micropayments planned for this video game? I understand that they will be cosmetic in order to pay the datacenter costs and the different servers by regions? (I can imagine that you have any plans of Multiplayer Game at the future)

Regarding gameplay, crime should reflect real-life dynamics. Players could choose paths like following the law or engaging in violent acts, theft, and other crimes. These choices should affect reputation and create a dynamic experience. Allowing mods could expand options, but strong security and anti-cheat measures are crucial to prevent exploits that could disrupt game balance. For age-appropriate content, features like blood could be disabled by default, with an option in the game that any player can enable them through an +18 EULA to ensure legal compliance.

For example, robberies in jewelry stores, shops, supermarkets, bag snatching at cafes or on the street, car theft attempts, gas station heists, and organized crime missions like bank robberies.

Cybersecurity could also play a role, incorporating scams, hacking smart devices, and tampering with systems like electricity meters, raising awareness about AI risks and societal impacts. For crime resolution, players could hire or play as detectives or lawyers, gathering evidence and going to trial. Even sending the zoi to prison, paying fines, or performing community service could be part of the experience.

Realism and game balance are key, and these elements would add depth while enhancing gameplay appeal. In summary, thank you to the Inzoi team for your dedication and hard work. Happy New Year and the greatest triumph for inzoi!

Would be interesting if the game implemented a kind of “alert system.” Like if a Zoi is seen stealing or committing any other crime by a Zoi, each Zoi who witnessed that crime has a chance of reporting the crime to the police (via a phone call or visit to the nearest police station), with the chance calculated based off of the trait of the witnesses (and police characters should immediately go after the Zoi if they witness the crime).

Cameras could also be purchased for lots to always “tag” a Zoi who commits a crime in the same area of that camera as wanted, and then the police could come after that Zoi.

This would provide interesting gameplay mechanics, as purchasable cameras (think, a cheap camera has a lower range where more expensive ones can capture crimes further away) could be installed on both residential and commercial areas to give high crime worlds a realistic and entertaining feel.

This is a topic that is very interesting/exciting to me and my opinion is that crime should be a fully fleshed out system and have in depth features. I would really like to see:

  • !! Real time jail experience, NO rabbit hole. Rabbit holes should probably be optional if people don't want to experience prison but the default should be experiencing prison in real time in a real jail building that you can also build/download from canvas yourself. This experience should have variety, tasks, chaos events, new zois that you can only find there and hidden secrets/items in jail so that it isn't just a boring experience but can also be a fun feature to go through. A proper jail system would add SO many gameplay (and mod) opportunities. In general I am firmly against rabbit holes as they take away from immersion and make the game feel lazy to me. The same goes for sickness/pregnancy and real time hospitals for example, I'd love to actively play through these things. A real jail experience is my number one most important request in terms of crime.

  • Benefits and incentives to commit crimes: I don't want only negative consequences for committing crime, because this way crime becomes something to avoid at all costs instead of trying out to see what happens. Some actions should have clear and significant benefits, like stealing a big sum of money, valuable items, adding reputation with other criminals and them giving you rewards or tasks, etc.

  • Crime skill: if you commit multiple crimes successfully this should increase a crime skill that lets you commit crimes more easily and quickly in the future, with less risk of being caught. You could also unlock bigger and more complicated crimes gradually this way and it gives a great incentive to do more bad things.

  • Careers: burglar, police, detective, criminal, vigilante. Especially detective, vigilante and criminal would be amazing to have as active careers, I think you can truly go in depth with those.

  • Challenges/challenge modes:
'Jail escape': where you spawn in jail with a lifelong sentence and have to get out through showing good behaviour to reduce the sentence, or alternatively find a way to break out yourself.
'Crime life': You can only earn money through crime, not any legal way. You'd have to rob people, banks, houses or use other ways to get money instead of the normal route of finding a job etc.
'Crime boss': become the top of the crime chain by being the most successful criminal and getting people to work for you. Become notorious/infamous for many crimes while never getting caught.

  • Neighbourhood specific crime level: some people mentioned this and I completely agree, this would bring more life and variety to the big maps.

  • Lastly, I think murder would be very cool to have in inzoi, but this should probably be non-graphic. However, I understand this might mess with the PEGI rating too much and not everyone will want this so I get it if this won't be implemented.

-- part 2 --

@limber basin thats why I said it should have variety, tasks, chaos, hidden secrets etc. I think that way it would be fun instead of just waiting while doing nothing for 3 days straight. In fact a rabbit hole for 3 days would be more boring because your zoi will just be gone for 3 days and you can't do anything with them at all. You will have to switch to another zoi during those 3 days, just like you can if your zoi is in a real jail and you don't want to play them during their jail time, they would just autonomously complete their tasks there.

I would like to be able to pay bail or a fine for crimes if let's say I want to not remain in jail. But also I would like a option to either increase or decrease the severity of punishment by police. Maybe an idea is adding this to settings. Like some may want harsher or softer punishment on crime. I like the idea of customization for all these ideas. Just like how we adjust the level of crime. As much as it's realistic being in jail 3 days this would be frustrating since I want to play longer days. I think that's something to consider. Also if we can commit crimes how far will this go? Like will we be able to run zois over? Possibly kill? Rob banks? Break in houses? Steal cars?

I think a devious skill would be great for the game like for example for your first couple crimes there should be a 50/50 chance of getting caught and the jail sentence will be 3 days. But overtime and especially if your zoi doesn't get caught the chances of getting caught should be 40/60. 60 in the zois favor, 40 in the police favor but There should be a higher sentence so maybe seven days. Then the next level would be 30/70. 70 for the zoi, 30 for the police but the sentence then goes 2 weeks if the zoi ends up getting caught.

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute our opinions. I personally prefer to create more of an "ideal" world, but recognize the appeal this feature may have for other gamers. Maybe this feature could also be on a sliding scale so that players can opt to include/increase/decrease the possibility of crime. I also think that there could be an impact on job or relationships as this would make it more realistic. Particularly, if the person is well-known (public figure, for example) maybe the information spreads/reaches more Zois ...

So first of all, thank you for all that, then I agree about introducing this, because it adds realism and therefore immersion!

I would even be for crimes, not often and not violent in itself, but unfortunately murders/assaults exist, and not wanting to admit it is naivety.

I'm going to play this game for the realistic side and not "an idealistic world" like the sims....

Here is my list:

  • theft of wallet, objects etc.
  • burglary, the base
  • Accident (but it would have to be intentional)
  • Harassment, blackmail, etc.
  • Fake profile, fake news, hacking
  • Embezzlement
  • Sound birth, like a scooter or noisy car, Neighborhood, night noise
  • Car theft, car burned, trash burned, tires slashed
  • Driving without a license, insurance, etc.
  • Scam, whether real estate, banking, fraudulent call

Crimes that I would like to see:

  • Murder (even if it's quite simple, see if you have to set conditions to get killed)

  • Drug trafficking (very profitable but also very risky, possible to be addicted)

  • Assault (may be injured, mild to severe?)

Possible penalties:

  • Prison (if we could live it would be good)
  • Fine (sometimes very expensive depending on the crime)
  • Stay at home or within an established perimeter
  • Penalties commensurate with the crimes (it can even go up to weeks depending on the crime)

That's the list, as far as features go:

  • Police check random
  • patrols on foot but also by car
  • That crimes can happen to us, but also to others
  • If possible, we can commit these crimes ourselves.
  • Seeing crimes live, but also learning about them (whether from TV, the newspaper, other people...)
  • If you are a police officer, being able to experience all of this
  • See the arrest
  • Potentially have a lawyer
  • You can go to the prison, see relatives or friends
  • Impact on relationships, but also reputation (only for things revealed)

There you go, I hope there will be some good things to take, I gave a bit of everything 😁

I agree that inZOI shouldn't have a heavy aboundance of crimes, but to make the society feel right there does need to be some elements of criminal activity.
Small/Petty crimes do seem the most aproachable in terms of how I feel is the best approach.

These can include;
🇦 Speeding tickets, parking tickets (because of the implimation of cars in the game).
🇧 Graffiti, Vandalism. Something I see teens do more than any age group, out of sheer boredum and/or peer pressure.

Alternatively for some potential harsher criminal activity, but still managable, I think Stalking could work. Considering the "Idol/Celebrity" jobs some Zoi's would have, and knowing that in real life some extremely obessive fans take it too far. This is not a lighter crime, so perhaps the penilty can be a harsher consequince; 4 days in the rabbit hole. Maybe an electronic bracelete that makes a horrible noise if they get too close to the Zoi they were caught stalking, just some ideas.

Personally, I would like to have a Utopia where everyone's best friends, but I also know that it is highly unrealistic, haha.

How about this: there are already ways to die in the game. Maybe make it so those incidents can be intentionally exploited by zois to cause death to other zois. This way you still get an option and crime of "murder" without too much violence. Example: intentionally serving expired food to another zoi, intentionally trying to run someone over, intentionally "breaking" someone's tv (this would also have a chance of dying while breaking a tv). Of course exploiting this opportunity wouldn't guarantee death 100% of a time (or it would be boring). But it would increase a zoi's exposure to death events. And the one who attempted the "murder" would go to jail if busted. Also, if zoi is caught attempting to "murder" can have his reputation ruined and that's when the gossip/karma element of the game comes into play. Other zois would avoid him, gossip about him, public shame him, hey maybe even organize public protests against that zoi. Building relationships for that zois would be much harder too. Just an idea.
As always, thanks for all the hard work you do. We truly appreciate you giving players the voice. ❤️

Well, I've done the math. If, Kjun's right, and it would take 48 seconds to speed through an 8 hour night, under the shortest daytime setting. Then it would take minimally, 432 seconds, or 7.2 minutes to get through a 3 day prison sentence. I'd recommend adding at least a video, or a pop-up story with maybe some choices to make, if you don't add a live prison system.

vapid bison
# wary hamlet I want to add that it would be cool if teens could do some of the crime options

I'd think that teens (and kids) should default to not have interest in committing crimes. However, they may develop an interest due to things like: parents/family being involved with crime (either wanting to impress them or it is normalized so they don't see it as bad), befriending or developing a crush on someone who does crimes and wanting to impress them, parents have low income and money is always tight so teen wants to do something to help, idolizing a public figure who turns out to be a criminal, etc. Depending on how severe/long lasting the minor's actions are if they are caught they may have different options than adults for punishment. But reputation at school or within extended family could still be impacted. If the minor doesn't grow out of the phase they might be more drawn to gangs or other criminal career options. If they have no desire to do crime anymore after the punishment, maybe they'd have a greater interest in law, police, therapist, hero, vigilante types of paths for career.

I think it would be really cool if we could have the option to completely change the appearance of our ZOIs through plastic surgery at a clinic, paying a high price for it. This way, we could create a new life, leaving the past behind with a new identity, which we could fully customize — from the name to documents, like place of birth and more. This change would be a way to escape the police, in case the ZOI is fleeing from persecutions or a past full of lies, crimes, or even actions like stealing or manipulating people.

After the surgery at the clinic, the ZOI could change completely, from their style to facial features. The transformation wouldn't just be physical, but also an identity shift. It would be a total reinvention, with new challenges and opportunities, but also the consequences of a past that, no matter how much we try to erase, could still come to light.

Perhaps, jail time can be shortened, to overnight? Then the next day your case goes to court and you can get an alternative punishment. House arrest, community service, or a fine to pay. Though you'll have to consider what you're gonna do, if a Zoi doesn't have the money to pay. Are you going to add debt, or make them go to prison anyway. Hi @grizzled lotus and the InZoi community,

Happy New Year! I always felt as though the life simulation genre never explored crimes enough, so much good, never enough bad! So here is a list I curated of unique crimes that I hope InZoi can explore in their game. I hope you guys like my list, please feel free to critique or add.

  • Arson/starting a fire or too many fires;
the first fire can be a warning/fine and the second would result in jail time/fine etc.
  • Assault or fighting a Zoi who presses charges can have your Zoi end up in jail after losing in court (You can also win and get off Scot-free). This goes for domestic harm in relationships as well.
  • Auto theft or stealing cars, plus hot wiring could also be introduced with this system.
  • I’m not sure if alcohol is in the game, but drinking and driving can result in a DUI/a ticket of some sort and maybe jail time depending on how many offenses.

I'm honestly very curious about the number one worst crime, cause the first thought that came to my mind was homicide - and honestly, that would add a whole new layer of uncertainty and consequence that I personally would LOVE.

I know that the vision is to not make the game focus on violence, which is why I have my doubts that this is actually the planned number one worst crime, as it is a bit morbid for a casual game like InZoi - but I would argue that it's a realistic worst-case crime, and that it doesn't have to be overly graphic (no need for people to run around with knives or anything). You could for example get the option to poison foods or drinks for people you hate (alternatively "make them sick"), possibly with the requirement to also be in an angry mood (that way it would be a rare occation) - and death could still be avoidable if the affected Zoi went to the hospital in time.
Car accidents could also result in death and count as homicide.

When it comes to punishment, I would personally very much like an active jail experience. I realize that that would be a whole project of its own, and I don't expect it to be available at release - but I think it would be a fun experience to add eventually. Building a social network within the walls with other inmates, possibly exploring a hidden career path within crime, building crime skill which makes you less likely to be caught by the police, and in the opposite way build relationship/reputation with the prison guards, resulting in a shorter sentence.

I also like the idea of a fine or community service for less serious crimes

I believe that if you want to add in crime that individual Zois can do, you should also consider adding in some surface layer police overreach - like handing out speeding tickets when someone is obviously not speeding or being overly rude during interactions. Perfect police, much like a perfect utopia, do not exist.

That could work if it was rare and you could react when spotting misbehaving police (report it, call them out, maybe gain mistrust towards the police that could unlock other actions like rallying/boycotting), but I fear that it'll be quick to feel like a broken game mechanic if not done very carefully. I agree it's realistic bc some police don't always behave fairly, but in a gaming situation it might just feel annoying if the police can be reckless and unfair at the expense of the player, with no consequence to counter that

I think a nice middle ground would be a police zoi losing their job if caught in a crime, depending on the severity of the crime

Love all the work done so far and I agree with a lot of the suggestions to integrate crimes to Inzoi in a fun way, like stealing, burglaries where you can fight off the burglar and call the police or have an alarm system. It adds some unpredictability to the game that I love.

For me inZoi is more about the story about family life and and for that reason I would prefer jail to be a rabbit hole (or other punishments like a fine, or house arrest, or even community work) and not have over complicated court systems that requires more actions from me. It sounds better for a mod to have these aspects. If jail was a rabbit whole and you only have one zoi, it would be nice to be given the option to skip three days and continue playing once the zoi is out of jail. Maybe also having some pop up about how their jail time was depending on connections with other criminals, skill level and personality - they might have made a friend or new enemy, gained some insight of a good new steal or something to make the rabbit hole experience interesting add to the rest of the game play.

Instead of having a fixed punishment for all crimes, like 3 days, you could make the consequences more dynamic and proportional to the type of crime committed. For example:

Simple theft: 1 day in prison or a lighter punishment, depending on the severity and situation.

Bank robbery: 3 days or more, considering the gravity of the crime and its impact on the game's society.

Purposeful hit-and-run of a ZOI: 5 days or more, especially if it’s a premeditated crime, possibly resulting in additional legal consequences like loss of rights or fines.

Escape or prison break: 5 days, potentially leading to a cycle of chases or more severe punishments if the ZOI is captured.

I've given a rough concept to this topic in the previous post (over here: #1322209837056131082 message), so I'll add onto what was said here based on the linked post and what I thought at the time of writing this.

What you could do is have ZOIs be put in the "jail" rabbit hole as mentioned.

If we assume there'll be other types of crimes than robberies, then depending on the crime this could be expanded by having ZOIs face trial in court after spending time in jail by making a Court system. Then depending on the results of the court session, if the ZOI is found guilty, for example they would be forced to pay fines in Meows, serve additional time in jail and a "stigmata" or "mark" in ZOIs profile which would say that this ZOI was sentenced and found guilty for this or that crime. On the other hand, if the ZOI is found innocent, then they could for example receive a recompensation in Meows.

The uttermost important thing for me is how the event of being caught and put to prison affects my Zoi afterwards in terms of emotions, wishes etc. If the rabbit hole event doesn't have any consequences for gameplay, it will probably feel meaningless.

Jail shouldn't be fun. You committed a crime, so it's normal for it to be boring. They should create something like jail but not as extreme, without pursuits or heavy punishments. Instead, it could involve special work designed specifically for prison, improving certain skills, or even planning an escape. It would consist of sleeping, eating, and doing the special work in jail, with the number of days served depending on the crime committed.

I had a thought based off investigative games I've played over the years. It would be cool if ordinary zoi could look into unsolved cases and research themselves and ask others to help them, to find out what happened. If the police don't continue the case or give up finding the criminal. It'd be like a quest within the game we can voluntarily do.

In Inzoi, it would be amazing not to limit the possibilities of the game. It should be a truly realistic life simulator that showcases both the good and challenging sides of life. The idea is for the game to fully reflect reality, without avoiding topics just because other games haven’t explored them. I believe Inzoi can be a space where life is recreated in a deep and authentic way, bringing unique and meaningful experiences to players. And I trust that the game will keep surprising us more and more!

Hello, Happy New Year and Year of the Snake!
I am an absolute sucker for a good crime kdrama, heist, and/or gang kdrama. Regardless of what is or is not added in the game, I completely agree with people that all of this extra possibility for crime would be super cool as a way to really tell that kind of story, but I also understand that the likelihood of all of these things being met is alot to ask of you and your team. That being said, it would be cool to add in various types of crime and some form of punishment if caught. I like a good blend of good and bad or the the option to have good inzois do bad things or bad inzois do good things. It really lets you tell a more interesting story that way. Plus it's a good way to really play with the karma system which I'm really excited to explore when the game is released.

Now I will dip a bit into a fantasy that I have always wished a sandbox/ life simulator game would make. I love to write and as I said I LOVE shows and books that have to do with gangs or illegal activities because it opens up for so many interesting possibilities, choices, stories, and characters. Like it would be cool if your inzoi could form or be part of a gang. Maybe they stay in it forever, maybe they try to turn their lives around and get away from it. I have no idea how much that would be to create, but just a little something I thought I would throw out there.

I absolutely cannot wait for the early access to hit and I just wanted to say thank you again for really truly caring and listening to what we have to say. It's not only a great feeling to be heard but I think it makes the whole thing feel even more special and like a community. It's like we are all helping in some way to make this game the best game ever. Thank you for letting us be apart of something so amazing! ❤️

For the idea of having our criminal Zoi directly to control in a prison, it would be better than having to play in another house, that would bother me personally. I like this idea.
In terms of crime, I rarely play this kind of life but if I had to choose I would have liked to burglarize and either put the precious items in a safe, my cellar, or sell them, and I would play the brother or sister who will be the police lol

I’ve read through every comment from this thread, and wow—your suggestions have been incredibly inspiring! Adding a comprehensive crime and punishment system at this stage of development is a daring move, but I’m glad we’ll have Early Access to refine this feature with your help rather than feeling pressured to get it perfect right away.

Some suggestions I thought were really good included house robbery, arson, battery, blackmail, theft, and smartphone hacking, though I plan on avoiding car theft. We all know GTA has already perfected this mechanic, and the scale of a full-on car chase is something inZOI isn’t equipped to handle just yet.

The punishment portion is even more complicated. Ideas like fines, Karma score penalties, and experiencing an actual jail were really great, but all pose significant technical challenges. Even so, these ideas have provided me with valuable inspiration as I continue refining this part of inZOI.

It’s important to note that me wanting to implement this is not simply a matter of responding to your demands. From the start, my goal has been to make inZOI a spicier version of The Sims. Explaining this vision hasn't been easy in Korea, where the Life Sim community isn’t as big, but that’s always been my goal. Now, I’m thinking more deeply about the direction and presentation inZOI should take.

Your feedback has been invaluable in shaping this process. Our team is always working to improve inZOI, and we would appreciate your continued support as we strive to make this game even better. Thank you!

That's great and thank you for reading all suggestions! I know inZOI will be amazing and grow with time, don't worry about some things not being finished at early access. It's a part of the process and something that will take time if it's done well. So don't stress to much, we all support you devs! ❤️The baby steps of inZOI will be so interesting to watch. Thank you for including som crime drama haha

As a correctional officer, would be pretty fun to see this, and to see if you could work as one. Not sure if this was mentioned, but maybe in that small jail map, you now have to completely change your way of living. Schedules, new fears, new styles of survival. Option for parole maybe? But I'd be okay with it being a mod or something.

Maybe do something like how you can set the karma of the world? But it's set the crime rate. "Let the world burn" stuff. Or the perfect utopia? Either way, I'm excited even if it doesn't get added💜

Edit: sorry, I just saw the response, but yayyy! Either way it's great, good job guys

Robbing is an easy place to start. Rather than just having the event occur in homes or randomly on the street, it would be interesting to see a robbery take place while your zoi is working, for example at the coffee shop or convenience store. Maybe it can also be a life changing event for the zoi, affecting them depending on their personality. With the city safety level, I assume the frequency of crime will fall into that. I didn't play too much of the older sims games, but i would personally find it very annoying if my sim/zoi was robbed 5 times or more in their lifetime, for me once is enough per zoi, or none at all, so i hope the lowest level is none or very rarely. (Now that I think about it, the more crime ridden a world is, your zoi could take self defense classes, or have that as an option in general).

An example about "random" occurrences- I played sims 3 a bit, and got all the packs on sale. It was honestly really cool seeing the alien portal come down, I was in awe discovering the "future zone" and casually meeting up with my grandchildren. Then it was happening for EVERY playthrough after that and i couldn't even remove the teleporter from my property, that event became very annoying and not exciting, it always happened at day 1 of my move ins, the effects were stupidly loud and flashy, along with the annoying uni mascot coming into my house. I don't want to get annoyed with the robber function, nor have any of the "random" events happening in a set schedule at the start of every new world or zoi, then i'll know what to expect and actively try to avoid it rather than embrace it for my zoi

TLDR: I really hope that the random occurrences, the good and the bad, are truly RANDOM

It’s clear how much effort you’ve put into making the game truly special, and I really appreciate how open and receptive you are to feedback from the community. Keep up the amazing work—you’re making something incredible, and it’s making a difference for all of us who play. I would suggest keeping it simple, but building the backbone for full Mod support regarding crimes/punishments, among other aspects ....let the community do the work for free, and that allows the players to determine how they want their worlds to function.
At the end of the day, if you focus on building an incredible sandbox and AI integration, the community will rise to the occasion and build it to unimaginable greatness

What would be import for me: Make this at least configurable for single player. Maybe I want to make a game run with a ZOI familiy that earn their money via illegal means, but without the constant fear of getting caught. So the chance of getting caught should be configurable. In addition the severity of the punishment should also be configurable. From the punishments discussed above down to a simple fee you have to pay, when you get caught.

I just REALLY hope that InZoi will not be all goodie two shoes. I am looking for something that mirrors life. I want randomness and Chaos. If it needs to be a toggle, ok. If my Zoi makes bad choices in life, skips school, lies, cheats, steals..I want them to have a hard time. Spontaneous actions and reactions. Maybe they start a fight randomly. Get arrested.

In my humble opinion, there should be a free-for-all in this aspect, because many players may quickly get bored with the crime aspect if it is too rigorously limited and grounded to the ground floor called balance, it is important that there is not too little but also that the given options of illegal life inzoi are not too op

I believe that there should be a legal system in place where, if someone is hit by a car, the driver should be held responsible based on the speed of the vehicle. The driver should then be required to attend court and pay any associated fees, and could potentially face imprisonment as a consequence.

Personally I like the idea of what you have so far when it comes to crime, but maybe something could be added as a dlc later down the line, like a Criminals (other names available lol) DLC which unlocks a prison, with prison roles, clothing, building pieces etc, this could open a whole realm of possibilities.

Personally for me, crimes should be an option to an extent. Also should include events like in the sims where a robber would sneak into your house and start to steal your items !

Your Zoi Crimes

  • Stealing
  • Vehicle Crimes
  • Assault (such as how the sims fights are just a puff of smoke)
  • Iffy one but Contempt for jury duty
  • Littering
  • Trust passing

** Random World Events / Not Your Zoi Events**

  • House Robbery
  • Vehicle Hit and Run
  • Assault to you OR other Zois
  • Store Robbery
  • Extreme Speed while driving / other traffic crimes

Punishment Types

  • Rabbit Hole Prison OR what I think would be very fun is, a Prison / Jail world where you can live your jail time sentence instead of having to control another family / or just have to wait it out
  • Fines / Fees
  • House Arrest (not allowed to leave house for blank amount of days
  • Probation
  • license revoked for blank days

Potential Passives

  • I don’t know what to call it but like honor goes down, (being a bad zoi)
  • Harder to get jobs due to criminal record
  • Romance is harder due to crime
(Also could have an option to LIE about criminal past)
  • Could unlock a Criminal Career Path

Honestly, I want to go to prison for big crimes like robbing a bank and getting caught would mean heading to prison after getting booked and going to court, 😍and you have to ride a bus to go to a prison. I don't want killing in this game, but getting arrested for unpaid tickets or for disturbing the peace because you decided to fight another zoi for what ever reason or missing court dates, would just make it immersive.

The player, controlling the offending character (Player), was caught committing a small crime (e.g.: graffiti on a wall, theft of an object, or dangerous driving).
The police officer (NPC) approaches the offender and begins a dialogue.
✓ The player has the option of trying to bribe the police officer to avoid being arrested or fined.
✓ Factors affecting bribery

• 1. Attributes of the Offender (Player)
✓Charisma: A persuasive ability of the offender, which influences the effectiveness of the bribe.
✓ Reputation: The player's fame in the city. Poor trust can make the police officer more suspicious.
✓ Available Money: The amount of money the player can offer to bribe a police officer.
✓ Skill in Criminal Acts: Determines the player's chance of being caught mentalizing or trying to escape.

•2. Police Officer (NPC) Attributes

✓ Character: Define the police officer's propensity to accept bribes. An honest police officer is more likely to refuse.

✓ Reputation: If the police officer has more trust, he may accept bribes more frequently.

✓ Stress Level: A stressed police officer may be more impulsive and make emotional decisions.

  1. Contextual Situation

✓ Seriousness of the Crime: Minor crimes are more likely to succeed in bribery.

✓ Value Offered: The value of the bribe must be compatible with the seriousness of the crime and the level of corruption of the police officer.

It's really pretty simple: you have to make the punishment really be a punishment, not a slap on the wrist. Strictly speaking crime does not pay, the average thief spends quite a while atoning for their crime, in gaming terms 'punishments' can always be shrugged off by a player, so if you do include crime in Inzoi, you have to make the punishment hurt the player.

I like the idea of adding most crime as a future dlc. Such as actually adding a jail cell. Then making it something with a toggle. And everyone can be happy on whether they care for it or not. I'm going to quote THE SIMS here, in the sims 2 or 3 the thief would enter the house and steal people's houses at dawn, this is an example like the other one below (it already happened in my house 😂💔 but we're fine haha, it's been a while), it would be cool if it had this inZOI, thefts could be minor and some serious, like stealing food from the convenience store or going into the game store (I forget the name haha) and stealing a computer or a chair, an expensive water filter and selling it later at the garage sale which I think has already been said here hasn't it? Now about serious crimes, you could rob a bank, or rob investors in a big company, or steal shares from investors in the company, another thing that might be quite heavy is robbing elderly people in the game, who are in a retirement home, or in their own homes, I'm going to act out a little story, a rich old lady who has no grandchildren, goes to a retirement home and then a young man who works there in the retirement home for rich old people haha, because you know he does, he finds out that she has no family and steals her money and investments, I'm going to take advantage of the fact that I'm writing this and I'm going to say something else, in the sims when the sims move in the players gradually get to know the residents, and I'd really like this to be in inZOI, the story of the boy who steals the old lady and then he ends up taking a liking to her and they end up forming a family, she finds out that he took it doesn't get angry and gives him the money to manage, and then she has him as a grandson? And it would also be nice if if this happened in the game, we players could control and change the course of the story or some things, and continue the story of the two of them, and of course I didn't specify his family, and he doesn't have one and he's still a poor boy who considered stealing from the old lady, and then it turned out that what you already know happened...Pag1

and he repented and now they're a family. Kjun thought of something else, it would be really cool if there was something that no simulation game has done so far, which is that we all have habits and quirks, family and friends know when there's something wrong and when we change, right? So it would be nice if when we controlled a zoi that was already in the world with its history made, if we players controlled them and they started to make choices or change their habits, the zoi, family or friends would tell our zoi that we were controlling that it was changing for the better or for the worse, and the family or friends would say that it was strange and had different habits, now if we players were controlling a zoi from birth this wouldn't happen, and if we players were to control another zoi or another family it would continue to act normally, with the same habits and everything, now if we players were to control it again and we players changed our thinking or as a person, and this reflected in the game, then it would happen that family and friends found the zoi we controlled strange, if this is undertaken in the game it will be something that is not available in the life simulation business...P2

I believe that when it comes to life, as you rightly pointed out, there is both a good and a bad side, and only the player can choose which side they want to be on.

Honestly, the game could have a switch to turn off certain violent actions for those who are too sensitive or faint-hearted, but this is life, and personally, I would prefer more forbidden possibilities that used to be added only through modifications.

The audience for life sims is much older, even though lowering age ratings theoretically should allow almost everyone to play, but in the end, people just don’t care about that, and I think that’s obvious.

Almost all popular AAA games with an 18+ rating have remained a part of gaming history because they didn’t limit themselves in terms of content and approached game creation with full creative freedom.

These games often explored deeper, more mature themes and offered a unique experience that attracted an adult audience seeking something more serious and emotionally rich. They didn’t try to please everyone; instead, they focused on a specific target group, which allowed them to become iconic and influential.

Moreover, they often introduced new mechanics, innovative ideas, and compelling narratives that set them apart from the lighter, more mainstream games. In the end, games that didn’t limit themselves in content and addressed important social or philosophical issues have left a significant mark on the industry and continue to inspire other projects.

Although such games don’t always become massive hits, they become landmarks thanks to their uniqueness and bold approach.

People will play what they want and what they enjoy. I would like to see real stuff and real things as it is.

I'd like to see money laundering on a higher level beside from just stealing from the money boxes at the retail locations. Being able to have a way for money to be wired to our character's bank accounts every so often.

Also another way for crime is being able to steal any object from someone's home to be sold online or a pawn shop

Maybe (in this theoretical example), it would be more like roller coaster tycoon, and raising prices on drinks and snacks,
And you could price your music/software based on how much you've grown public awareness of it.
It would also be cool if you could grow you 'tech stat' for developing software by contributing to open source code, and modding existing games.
