Fixes
1. Overdone Gamut Expansion
The game uses very strong gamut expansion which oversaturates colors in highlights to the point where you can't make out the nuances in them. It also causes unnatural colors on skin tones — the player character's hands have a reddish glow to them when under a light.
2. Tone Mapping Inconsistencies
The game uses a different tonemapper in HDR (a broken implementation of ACES) that lacks the controls present in SDR (Unreal Filmic, an ACES approximation).
The HDR tonemapper has been replaced with a blend of Unreal Filmic and a custom ACES implementation, bringing parity with SDR artistic intent while expanding highlight detail and wide color gamut support.
3. SDR EOTF Emulation
In SDR, the final image is encoded in sRGB gamma before output. Since most monitors use gamma 2.2, this mismatch boosted shadow contrast in SDR but not in HDR.
sRGB → 2.2 gamma conversion is now emulated in HDR, restoring contrast to match the developers' SDR workflow.
4. UI Appearance
In HDR, the UI and scene blend in linear space, unlike in SDR where blending happens in gamma. This made transparencies appear overly transparent in HDR.
The fix encodes UI and scene in gamma before blending, preserving original UI readability. In HDR, for some inexplicable reason, they apply ACES tonemapper to the UI as well. The only explanation I can think of for doing this is to cover up the game's UI being washed out due to not having 2.2 EOTF Emulation.

Sliders

  • Tone Map Type: UE ACES (Vanilla HDR), None, Vanilla+ (ACES + UE Filmic Blend), UE Filmic (SDR)
  • Peak, Game, and UI Brightness
  • SDR EOTF Emulation / UI SDR EOTF Emulation
  • Tone Map Scaling: By luminance or Per Channel
  • Hue Correction
  • Color Grading: Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Contrast, Saturation, Highlight Saturation, Blowout, Flare

Compatibility
External DLLs/injections such as Optiscaler, SpecialK, or PureDark FG may not work.
Test without them first. RenoDX and these mods all hook at a low level, so compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

Instructions

  1. Install ReShade 6.6 with add-on support (no shaders/addons need to be selected).
  2. Copy renodx-ghostwiretokyo.addon64 into GhostwireTokyo\Snowfall\Binaries\Win64
  3. Run the game.
  4. Press HOME to open the ReShade UI and configure settings.
