#Need Help — RVC Real-Time (Deiteris fork / w-okada) on Ubuntu 24.04 — unsure about Server Input/Out

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU (8GB VRAM)
OS: Ubuntu 24.04
Fork: Deiteris fork of w-okada RVC real-time voice changer

Issue:
I’m not sure which devices I’m supposed to choose for Server Input and Server Output.
On the Client, if I select my mic from headset and speaker from headset, I can hear sound correctly. But I don’t know what the correct configuration for Server should be.

I’m also not sure whether I installed / am using PipeWire.

Steps I did:

Installed Deiteris fork

Launched the UI

Selected microphone and speakers under Client

Audio works on Client test

But I don’t know what I should pick on Server Input / Server Output

Goal:
I want the real mic → converted voice → go into a virtual microphone that Discord/OBS can pick up.

Extra info:
If it matters, I don’t know whether PipeWire is installed or not.

If anyone can tell me:

What should be selected for Server Input

What should be selected for Server Output

Whether PipeWire or PulseAudio is recommended

And if I need to create a virtual output / null sink

I’d really appreciate it. 🙏

i think its a bug probably

When I debugged the Deiteris, I came to a conclusion that the server input is broken on Linux. I think that the audio library is used incorrectly with regards to threading.
Use the "client" audio through the web browser if you want to use Deiteris.

Because you keep asking about the same thing for weeks. I'm not sure about audio APIs in Linux. In Microsoft Windows, there commonly being MME (some programs identify it as waveOut), WASAPI and ASIO; there's also DirectSound, a bit superior to MME, but is often superseded by newer WASAPI and not found in programs like W-Okada. In Linux, what I know are Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA), PipeWire, PulseAudio, JACK Audio Connection Kit, PortAudio and SDL. As almost all members here know Windows, you should consider those who know about Linux (like a Discord server that specializes in Linux and related tools), review the documentation, combine these knowledge and provide a possible solution.

Well, it's not the issue with my virtual audio cable. It's the issue with repo itself

#

Deiteris repo doesn't work on Linux as the server input is broken on Linux

#

Confirmed by @balmy wyvern

As if you wish to stick with Deiteris W-Okada fork, where there's a newer fork of W-Okada to try but you just didn't try.
