#Latency optimization and skipping issues.

Hello! I'm looking for some advice!

I want to try RVC to voice characters on a dnd rpg campaign, been playing around with some different models and settings on vonovox, and I'm having the following issues:
— The voice only sounds good when the delay is too high.
— Sometimes it skips something I said entirely.

I'm wondering if it's possible to improve those with better settings, or if I'm at the point that I'd need a better machine for better results.

Also, I'm not sure what some of the settings in vonovox do or who to use them properly, like "formant", "index rate", "f0 method", "smart SINE", "block size", "extra time" and such.

My current vonovox settings:
— VAC Lite, WASAPI, with virtual line and mic both set to 48000hz, 1 channel, 16 bit
— F0 method: rmvpe
— Block size: 0.85
— Extra time: 2.00
— Crossfade Duration: 0.15s

My PC:
— RTX 4070 8GB Laptop
— Windows 11

RVC doesn't always mean realtime voice changer. While your settings look fine, the delay and audio cutting off can either happen because:

  • when you set Crossfade to 0.15, it does improve quality but also increases delay by around 50 ms.
  • you have set "GPU delay" at a number.
  • your microphone audio is low.
  • the block size could be too high, you can try reduce down around 0.80 - 0.60 or less if possible.
