I’m planning to buy a new PC primarily for local AI generation (image, video, etc.). I’m looking for feedback on the components do they make sense, or would you suggest improvements to make this set more effective and makes sense overall?

My planned setup:
CPU: Intel Core i7-14700KF
Motherboard: MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk (7D91-009R)
CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360
GPU: ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC 16GB GDDR7
Case Fans: Deepcool FC120, 3-pack (R-FC120-BKAMN3-G-1)
Storage: Lexar NM620 1TB SSD + XPG Gammix S11 Pro SSD
Power Supply: Gigabyte UD850GM PG5 850W, ATX 3.0 (GP-UD850GM PG5 V)
RAM: Kingston Fury Beast, DDR5, 64GB (2x32GB), 6000MHz, CL30 (KF560C30BBEK2-64)
Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 207 ARGB

  • the 5070 Ti gpu seems a solid choice, but there may be some AI applications using pytorch 2.6/older that won't work with the gpu or may require workaround to install the latest torch. a decent alternative is 4070 Ti super if you can find in some used market.
  • Intel CPUs recently have bad reputation since the raptor lake debacle and lackluster arrow lake. If you can get it in affordable deal, that's okay. otherwise consider AMD one like 9800X3D, or 7700X is also fine.
  • get a 1000 W psu if you go the intel CPU, otherwise 850 W is okay unless you have further upgrade plan. note that ATX 3.0 labeled psus aren't always good so try consult with some PC vendor or in toms hardware forum

  • the two SSDs you chose are pcie 3 and still fine, you can also find some cheapest one even though it's gen 4. personally I'd rather not consider anything above $70 per TB. fyi the market price went lowest ever in late 2023 and found some 2 TB one in $90.

you could also consider a high capacity yet affordable HDD to store a lot of your stuffs
