Using whisper to subtitle some videos but for some reason my fans are ramped up all the way, however task manager says gpu usage is 0% with occasional spikes to 100 (not sure why) and cpu usage is at 8-15%, memory is at 7.7/16. All running locally.
Running with cuda tag so using my gpu, rtx 4050.
Running the medium model.
Anyone know why the fans are ramped up so high?
Anything i should do?

Processing sequentially (using python script to not start next til previous finishes) about 5 hours of footage all chopped into 50 minute episodes
If your temps are fine then your fans are doing their job lol
I wouldn't overthink it. Google the target temp of your hardware and set an alarm with HWInfo if you're really paranoid
I'm not familiar with whisper so I can't speak on your task manager utilization
You can also tune fan curves in your bios usually. But don't touch that if you're not confident
If your GPU fans spin that fast when an AI program is running, it's normal. It also happens with graphically demanding games. When an AI program or game uses GPU, GPU heats, then its fans spin to keep GPU cool down to stable temperature.
