Initially saw action in North Africa before being sent across the world to the Pacific towards the Solomon Islands to guard troop convoys to Guadalcanal and defend against air attacks. Afterwards, she joined three of her sisters with 3 other destroyers in the New Georgia Islands and sunk the Japanese destroyers Minegumo and Murasame. She then participated in the Bougainville campaign and used her radar to assist in the sinking of Sendai in the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay. Her later career included the rest of Papua New Guinea, the Marianas Islands, the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Palau, the retaking of the Philippines, and finally Okinawa.
