Increasing/decreasing pitch without going off key

When it comes to increasing/decreasing pitch of an audio file, is there a way to increase/decrease it's pitch without having to only set it to either 12 or -12? Sometimes either just setting it to 12 may make the voice sound too high pitched, causing a lot of squeaking, and sometimes -12 could cause the voice to sound very demonic.

-12 and +12 are octaves, so yeah

If you wanna change it in non music related contexts, just use RVC's pitch change feature and convert, it should do it well
