#which one is best .flac Or .wav

not sure myself but i jsut use wav, wav basically from what i understand tries to get as much data as possible from an audio
So wav is best?
not sure havent really tried flac
Can I prepare a dataset in flac? Will it work?
both are lossless, either or, flac will save you space
but saving a flac of a lossy audio source, like say an mp3 you download off youtube, wont make it higher quality
its preferable to just, dunk to wav/flac to not suffer any more reencoding losses using lossy formats like mp3 / aac, etc
iirc ytdlp downloads from youtube as m4a right?
which is a container, aac is the codec
much akin to how .mp4, is a container
and it generally stores an h264 video stream
and aac audio
mp4 itself, isnt a free or open source container
(m4a is included under the mp4 standard)
theres infinitely more rabbit hole snake oil to keeping audio perfect, but, i recommend getting a fair dac, even the goofy little type c ones will be good enough to drive some iems
and just getting some neutral-ish iems
because every audio setup technically 'flavors' how it sounds, for better or for worse, in terms of mastering or critical listening, typically worse
So what is conclusion?
Mark it as solved 👍
