#Game freezes / OpenGL removes effects

As it says on the tin, the game keeps freezing on me after a few minutes of playtime, playing multiplayer and/or singleplayer is basically impossible because of this. I have reset my drivers, reinstalled just about everything I could think of, but somehow it just keeps freezing. I'm able to select items/move around menu's when frozen, but the visuals are completely dead.

The OpenGL fix does work, however, when applied it removes most if not all visual effects from the game which is a sub-par experience

my friend has the exact same issue, and the OpenGL fix does work, but yeah it looks terrible. it's unfortunate no one else has looked at this or responded to this, because it's clearly an issue that happens to more than just one person

i'm trying to play with a friend yet they just freeze mid-game, both singleplayer and multiplayer, and it just.. sucks

coincidentally, my friend is also using an RTX 4070 and encounter the exact same issues (as i said prior), so maybe it's a gpu-specific thing? the only difference of course is that they're using a 4070 Ti Super (Desktop GPU) and you're using a 4070 (Laptop GPU), but nonetheless, still a 4070

I'll start up the game when able and play a bit until it crashes, should have time in about an hour or so

# vivid willow Hi! Which graphics card do you have? Since Buckshot Roulette is a new game, olde...

my friend is currently asleep so i can't double-check, but they are very much using a modern computer. they have a** 4070 Ti Super (Desktop GPU) **and a Ryzen 5 5950X (iirc), so i'm very sure that the game should've worked fine on a system like this.

Could you please share your player logs when you try to run the game without Open GL?
i'll ask my friend to do this once they're awake and available

Hi also experiencing this issue, however for whatever reason it also crashed in the middle of the match while using the open gl fix and I’ve got no idea why. My graphics card isn’t the best at it is 4-5 years old but it can run modern games just fine, it just seems to not like Buckshot Roulette for whatever reason.
Whats even weirder is that my friend who has the same graphics card as me and has an even older machine can run the game perfectly fine without needing the open gl fix.

Thank you as well! I really hope this can get sorted somehow cause I really wanna play the game with my friends but if I crash before a single round happens it kinda stinks :p

# vivid willow thank you! ill forward these to Mike

that's great to hear, i hope it gets fixed soon... me and my friend want to play buckshot roulette but having it freeze 10-30 minutes, or sometimes just randomly, is really upsetting. so yeah, i hope something is done about this soon

@tiny imp @vivid willow** we're not sure if this is a fix** or not, however my friend put -high as their launch option in Steam for Buckshot Roulette and they managed to finish an entire singleplayer game to unlock Double or Nothing without freezing at all

in fact, it hasn't froze at all since they put the launch option. again, we aren't sure if this is a fix or not, however it does to seem have stopped freezing as of the time of writing (<t:1731200340:f>).

update: my friend's game finally froze, but only after switching to fullscreen. after he switched to fullscreen the game froze within simply 5 minutes. however, when he went back to windowed the game hadn't froze at all and it still works perfectly fine now

update 2: my friend went back to fullscreen again and it hasn't froze once after multiple multiplayer games??? not sure what's happening but setting the Steam launch options to -high significantly reduces freezing
