One thing I've noticed after playing some games of this is that a logical group of players will typically tend to focus on taking out the person with the least health. This is a pretty uneven balance, as the best option for a round is always to try and take down the person who's closest to death in order to make sure the rotation cycle is shortened. I feel like something like this just turns one player each round into a punching bag, and it never feels good to lose that way.

Just play the mf game lol, That's about, What do you expect, Support the bullying, Is just a game about russian roulette with a shotgun, If you can hold that just leave and don't play the game, Competitive is Competitive.
You can't do alliances on Buckshot Roulette, Nobody will trust you. You can only make temporary deals or manipulate people to do things. Or even betray them.
ive noticed it as well. i suggested an item that prevents players from shooting you for 1 turn which would force the other players to target someone else which would make it less likely for one player to become the punching bag.
and as for Aksel's comment, i dont think anyone has a problem with singling out players, were just saying it is the logical decision to make if you want to win. why wound a guy at full health when you can totally eliminate someone who has 2hp? from all the games ive played with friends the first person who gets shot is also the first to be eliminated like 90% of the time. it makes the game predictable and boring. its not about OP being upset that they got double teamed.
My guy shut the actual fuck up thanks :>
Also cause cooldown is ass
the message above mine is an actually good suggestion could be a Defibrillator overcharge
A second agreement, saying that cause that's a way you can play doesn't mean it's a way you should encourage people to play, it's the mind set behind people who play just to make others suffer
and it's kinda cringe ngl
It’s a roll-of-the-dice game, you are either a victim or a survivor.
I had the idea to make an item that rigs the defibulators so that the next player that shoots you will get defibulated while still being alive. The rigging would then end the next time it is your turn or when the load ends. I think this is a good way to discourage a player from shooting you without essentially disabling the shotgun.
yeah just steamrolled a random guy with another random guy and he died twice in a row so this is very much true
I just want a custom lobby rule which only lets you shoot the healthiest players.
this 100%
Everyone would get to play for a while each round, cigarettes would have more strategy to them, and you could aggressively target specific people once everyone is low.
Also, I am so sorry for the 30 minute slowmode.
It's a game about russian roulette, Is made for you to think, Is made to obviously make you think hard for choices and that's fun!. If you can't hold that, It's because you're sensitive and you've never took an ass beat. Not even in real life, So how i said previously... Just leave the game, If we add a concept to not be the punching bag, Then the game is ruined.
I also don't see the reason to insult me for giving my opinion. And if you rage over this game, I can't imagine you raging over a guy or a girl punching your face on real life. In this game you need to be strategic and you need to convince people to not shoot you and make deals so the target is another player, Go for the bigger fish, And talking about cringe... That's a burnt word, And you're a furry, What a shame. I actually like the furry community because the majority of people are kind and i know they use suits because they're introvert and don't want to show themselves, They feel better if their expressions are not shown, And i'm okay with it! But damn, How much toxicity. Nowadays nobody can give a freedom speech without being bombarded with negative comments. And i'm sure you won't read this because you would say "I ain't readin allat"
And to be honest, To not get punch bagged, You can be stealthy, In which way? I normally ALWAYS win the games without talking. If you talk too much, They're gonna think you're annoying and they'll want to eliminate you. You just need to think about strategies, The game is about that. Is about thinking, Not really skill. An item that blocks the target for you would make the game annoying. Because the item would be very OP in my opinion. (Let me remark that again, IN MY OPINION)
And don't worry, People always go for the bigger fish, You can just tell them that!
"Hey, That player has full lives while you guys have 3"
No need to fight
Or maybe just a rule about only shooting the healthiest players as NotWendy said! Fixed.
(Sorry for bad grammar, I'm ukranian)
Yea, I don't think that how the game works by default is inherently bad. But letting the host decide how they want the match to play out would be nice.
Argumentum ad hominem
Freedom of speech is cool n all but that extends to my ability to tell you to and i quote "My guy shut the actual fuck up thanks" Freedom of speech not Freedom against criticism,
your whole argument essentially boiled down too 'yeah i am going to make this unfun for one person cause i find taking the fun out of something much more fun than actually playing the 4 player game where i get to shoot my friends ' and then telling the person to stop playing a game cause people like you pick one person to bully
And then to cap it off you cant claim "internet so toxic >:|" after telling someone to stop playing the game cause they wanted it to be more fair and to not get treated like a punching bag, makes you look like the biggest hypocrite.
So please add something constructive or "My guy shut the actual fuck up thanks :>"
I feel like the "only lets you shoot the healthiest players rule" wouldn't work that well cause it kinda only lets you shoot 3 people till everyone is at the same health
[we got real silly]
[and yeah am done he got really mad and wrote for 30 minutes cause i told him his take was bad]
MY GUY STOP TYPING THERE IS NO ARGUMENT TO BE HAD YOU LOST
Please don't turn this into a Reddit argument. I'm directing this request to everyone involved. Your points of view are clear. Both approaches to playing the game can work for different groups. They can co-exist when it comes to practical implementation.
I just checked back in

Anyways, there's no real way to avoid it apart from making it like a rule among your friends, truth is it's optimal to Speedrun players out of the game, as the less variables in a game about probability management the easier it is to win
It's not even a buckshot roulette thing, it's something known for +2 party games
I just came back and read everything and I think that making people only shoot the healthiest players defeats the point of the game. I would also like to point out that if you are playing this game, you should expect a terrible loss or a great win because how a game of chance works. If it weren't chance then we could call ourselves high rollers. Also I am replying to my own message because I think the item I proposed balances both sides. You can either sacrifice your own health and screw someone over or you can play it safe. It adds a punishment to high health players without making the game completely even. I think if it was even everytime the game wouldn't fun anymore because it takes the satisfaction out of winning.
I just played a few games and realized something. You are better off shooting the player that was shot by another players. This will make them targeted and will show others that as long as they shoot the targeted person, they will be safe from you. My least favourite item has to be the remote, too. This is because with many people, it completely shuts down any chance of resistance by the targeted player. Items like adrenaline and handcuffs (idk how that fancy new screen is called) also don't help in this. So maybe add an item or a failsafe against that?
I still think having an item that acts like a shield for 1 turn would be the best solution for this. Press a button, and a metal bucket drops over your head or something, idk.
It’s a feature that is in a lot of 3 to 4 player card games and would translate well to this game. If you've never played it, I recommend playing/learning the game "Love Letter." Mechanically, it’s quite similar to how Buckshot works. It’s a game about deducing the cards other players have through probability, etc., but no one really gets singled out to be eliminated because of playable cards like the Handmaid that prevent other players from targeting you until it’s your turn again, which buys you time while everyone else fights with each other.
I was thinking about a Inverted Tablet where you can't be shot for a whole round rotation and it will only gets put in play if one player has been aimed at 3 times in a single round
See, if you're targeted and jammed, you won't even be able to use the item. What about a failsafe instead?
@mint geode your idea literally makes targeting even worse than it already is
That could work as well, but i feel like adding prerequisites that need to be met just to use an item goes against how all the other items work. Literally anything that can take the heat off of you and onto the other players for a bit is what the game needs.
also, for any mods reading this, what is up with this 30 minute slowmode within forum discussions? i get having a slowmode for making entirely new topics but this just slows down discussion for ideas within a topic for no reason.
@gilded dagger I get that thats still a possibility, but at some point it will always be possible for you to get checkmated just based on the way the items are used. Like others have said it is russian roulette with a twist and you cant always have a way to get out of every scenario. We're just focusing on the meta playstyle of immediately eliminating the first person that gets shot because it happens every game with more than 2 players. When it comes down to it, its ultimately a game of chance but the fun comes from all the items that dilute the probability and swing the favor back and forth on different players until the end.
The inverted tablet sounds awfully broken, as for how volatile the game is, as it could be essentially nothing (if the HP is 3 or less) or downright game changing
Honestly just make it so people can't use the jammer and/or remote twice on a rotation (that is to say, in the case of the jammer make it so once used the person affected needs to be able to play again before the jammer can be used on that person again) and same with the remote. These ways the lockouts are still possible yeah but can be more preventable
