You will get 1 key per about 110 to 130 crates. Bronze is more common than silver, and of course gold keys do not drop from crates.
You can also pick them up in the flash deals, where bronze is the best deal

Btw: You can shovel the chests. You don’t need to open them until you have more space, and even then, open silver to get more bang for your buck.

Focus on buying land and clearing rocks and trees. (Pick between rocks and trees first if you don’t have space).

Also, save a dead animal (when it has a bubble of coins) and dead crop (when it has a bubble of a baby crop). It will help you and visitors to collect from them.

I would claim that first 1-star card, then I would save up nine of them. Set the last one to the side, and merge 8 cards up to a 3-star (skipping completely over the 2-star upgrade). After you upgrade, that last card can be exchanged for gems
