Clean fills me with pride in myself. I interpret it differently than as it was written, a common thing among fans that I believe Taylor does approve of. Since I came out as transgender and gay 2 years ago, I've viewed through the lens of coming out. I like this song to celebrate it as the bravest thing I've ever done in my life. It was a very shaky, difficult process that I'm still undergoing, but things get better the further down this road I go. So when it feels hard I relate to the line "When I was drownin', that's when I could finally breathe" because nothing will ever be harder than living that repressed and miserable life for all those years
Welcome To New York easily. Boys and boys can like each other girls and girls can like each other and New York is for everyone
seven, dorothea, ivy, bc i think they all (in one way on another) talk about two girls, either friends or something more but they're just very comforting songs to me
welcome to new york as arbo said, especially since she mentioned it referring to pride in the 1989 tv prologue
