1st video
If you perform the parry right before you fall, you retain the parry stance (blue glow) permanently

2nd video
You can see an example of the enemy attacking and i just parry without doing anything

I finished the run and still have the parry stance. I don't even have the weapon

Started another run with the greatsword and YEP
I still have the parry on

Does it affect gameplay or is it just visual?

It affects gameplay. The only thing that can hurt you is a fire trap or fall dmg
