@wooden reef Thanks for posting! Please remember, support here is volunteer-based and not official. Be patient after posting, and don’t spam or ask in other channels.

  • What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
  • **What have you tried to do to fix it already? **(List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
  • Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? (Tell us what you found.)

You keep deleting my text that has my problem

I just upgraded from a series s to a series X. I went to play my Xbox 360 games that are backwards compatible with the series X and I couldn’t download my Xbox live account. I tried with both disc and digital. The Xbox live was working when I tried a Series X game. I get an error that reads “can’t connect to Xbox live.” There’s no error code and it tells me to test my connection. I have tried everything from doing a hard power cycle, to clearing local save and 360 data, to factory resetting my system. All to no avail. Every method I try, when I click download account on the Xbox 360 menu, it says it can’t connect to Xbox live account please help

Here’s a walkthrough of getting to the option to create an app password. On a browser, sign into your account on https://account.microsoft.com >Security >Account Security >Manage how I sign in >App passwords >Create a new app password

#

Then when you go to download your Xbox account on the Xbox 360 emu just enter the created app password in place of your actual password and it should download the account.

@plush basin I get an error that says can’t connect to Xbox live if I press the download profile button. I can’t even type in my username or password 🙁

#

I have made an app password though

#

So when I get to that point I can type it in

I’m still getting the error when I press download profile

plush basin
# wooden reef Ok. I restarted my router. “Getting your 360 info” appears but goes away after 4...

That’s some progress at least. Another troubleshooting step would be to uninstall the backwards compatible games and then go into the Xbox series x settings >system >storage devices and then opt to clear local Xbox 360 storage.
Then Perform a hard restart on the console by holding down the power jewel (lit up Xbox button) on the system itself for about 15-25 seconds. Wait for around a minute and then restart the system. That should clear the cache of issue hopefully.

#

Redownload the digital game first and see if you still get the error. Fingers crossed 🤞

I uninstalled All Xbox 360 games. Cleared the local storage. Hard shut down. Waited. Turned it back on. Reinstalled a random 360 game. Same thing

Do you happen to have another account on the console you can try with?

wooden reef
#

Not at the moment but I can try. I have an alt account I haven’t used in a while

plush basin
#

Might as well try and see if it is account specific.

wooden reef
#

Nope. Same thing

plush basin
#

I assume the Xbox series x is up to date right?

wooden reef
#

I just bought it yesterday. I hope so. Let me check

#

No console update available

wooden reef
plush basin
#

That would be updated with the system itself and in some cases with specific backwards compatible games.

plush basin
#

You mentioned you already tried a factory reset on the system. But would you mind trying it one more time while keeping your games and apps? Seeing that you said you saw some progress after restarting your network. I’m wanting this issue to get resolved for you now myself. I get the frustration you might feel as I had a similar issue a while back.

wooden reef
#

All good. I understand. Do you want me to delete the backwards compatible game as well

plush basin
#

Probably wouldn’t hurt to try at this point.

Sign into the account you’re trying to use and then download one of the backwards compatible games and try again. If it still doesn’t sync your account. I would say to wait a few days and try again. As the only other option for troubleshooting is to contact Xbox support directly and they will likely run you through the same steps we’ve just tried.

With the digital assistant you have to use specific wording and eventually it will possible get you into a chat with a an actual agent. Likely if you stipulate that you exhausted troubleshooting options to get the issue resolved.

wooden reef
#

Same thing unfortunately… I don’t know what is going on

#

Faulty unit maybe?

plush basin
#

With the alt account you tried did it also just fail to sync? And then not allow you to download your profile?

wooden reef
#

Yes

#

Same exact thing happened as well

plush basin
#

Could just be a temporary issue. How long have you had the console for?

wooden reef
#

I bought it yesterday afternoon

#

Around 1:30

plush basin
#

Brand new or a refurb?

wooden reef
#

Brand new

plush basin
#

So you are still under warranty at least. I would say to wait a day or so and see if the issue persists, if so try and reach out to a support agent if absolutely necessary. Hopefully you won’t have to get it replaced, but at least it wouldn’t cost you extra with a warranty.

#

Your non backwards compatible games work without issue though right?

wooden reef
#

It’s just so odd. I can play my Series X and Xbox One games just fine.

plush basin
#

I did forget to ask if you were using a wired or wireless connection? @wooden reef

#

I was just reading that some have gotten this issue resolved by switching between the two connection styles.

wooden reef
plush basin
#

Darn

wooden reef
#

If I’m banned I don’t know what I did 😅

plush basin
#

That would suck. You were playing on your other console before the series x though right?

wooden reef
#

Yes. 360 and Series S

plush basin
#

So weird…

#

Let’s try one more thing

wooden reef
#

Ok. Shoot

plush basin
#

Go to settings> network settings > advanced settings> alternate MAC address > clear

wooden reef
#

Keep it wired or wireless?

plush basin
#

Try with wired

wooden reef
#

Ok

#

Just restarted. Boot up the game?

plush basin
#

Give it a go.

wooden reef
#

Stopped syncing. The bar never progresses btw. Download profile still does the same thing

plush basin
#

I’m pretty stumped at this point, but can’t say we haven’t tried to get the issue resolved.

#

Do you have the Xbox insider hub installed by any chance?

wooden reef
#

I do not

plush basin
#

I would suggest reporting this problem after you download that app. It installs a report a problem tool that you can use to submit this issue.

wooden reef
#

Ok. Will do. I’ll do that, try again in a couple days like you said as well

plush basin
#

You won’t likely get a direct response to the report, but it is good for the platform overall to know that this issue is occurring and what is happening. The tool will take some diagnostic data about the system and the Xbox team will look into it.

wooden reef
#

Ok. Sounds good. I shot you a message request in case they end the thread or delete it for whatever reason. I’ll get back with you in a couple days

#

Thank you so so much and have a great night/day

plush basin
#

I don’t see a reason that they would, but you have a better night/day. Sorry we couldn’t get this fixed.

wooden reef
#

It’s all good. No need to apologize. We did all we could

plush basin
#

Hopefully it gets resolved in a day or two. I love backwards compatibility and I know that you like it as well. Take it easy and bless
