So i gifted the game deadside to a buddy of mine thinking we could play it together. He could not install it because im in the USA and he's in the UK so it is apparently region locked. Did not know this was a thing and makes no sense that it would even let you gift a game to someone in a different region then if they can't install it. Anyways he can't install it so trying to get it refunded. It shows up on my Microsoft account being purchased but does not show up on the list of games refundable. Its been well over 2 weeks and everytime I try to contact support it makes me talk to AI which is of no help. Tried to have them call me so I can talk to a real person to help but AI says phone support is not available for refunds or gifted games. So essentially they took my money..item is useless..cant get a refund. Any suggestions on what to do here???

Also I even tried calling the 800 number and it just told me to go online and talk to AI again. 🙄

@willow palm Thanks for posting! Please remember, support here is volunteer-based and not official. Be patient after posting, and don’t spam or ask in other channels.
If your issue is about accounts, billing, contact Xbox Support directly.
If your issue is related to an Enforcement action, no one here can help.

To help us help you, make sure to answer:

  • What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
  • **What have you tried to do to fix it already? **(List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
  • Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? (Tell us what you found.)

If you don’t answer these, you might not get a response.

If it's been over 14 days it's no longer eligible for a refund. You could give the code to someone else that does live in the US, but otherwise, there's nothing else you can do
