#Changing the email of my Xbox account

Years ago, my mom had made some outlook email, which i'm still forced to use on my xbox. Over the years, my mom changed phones and some other stuff, and she forgot the old phone number she had linked to the outlook email, and i'm trying to make it so that my account has my personal email so i can link my discord account to it.
Any help is needed

@golden kindle Thanks for posting! Please remember, support here is volunteer-based and not official. Be patient after posting, and don’t spam or ask in other channels.
If your issue is about accounts, billing, contact Xbox Support directly.
If your issue is related to an Enforcement action, no one here can help.

To help us help you, make sure to answer:

  • What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
  • **What have you tried to do to fix it already? **(List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
  • Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? (Tell us what you found.)

If you don’t answer these, you might not get a response.

Go to Xbox.com and sign in with your current Microsoft account email address.

Click on the Profile icon in the top-right corner and select My Microsoft Account.

Navigate to the Your info section and click on Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.

Select Add Email and enter the new email address you want to associate with your account.

Verify the new email address by entering the code sent to your inbox.

After verification, return to the Manage how you sign in to Microsoft page and select Make Primary next to the new email address to set it as your main account email.

If you wish to remove the old email, click Remove next to it on the same page.

side note: if you are able to change the email it is not instant and can take up to 48 hours

Yes, are you signed in to that account on the browser? if so i dont think you will need to know the password since it should autofill it for you but if not then you will need to know the password for your microsoft account

but i think my main question is, will i have to make another outlook email or can i use a gmail?

does it give you any options to send a code elsewhere like an email or maybe a different phone number?

thats so odd because it keeps on giving me the same issue

#

okay, i just did something and it told me to wait 24 hours (i believe) for an email

Well if the servers are not down then I recommend going to xbox support and you could also just wait and try again later, may be a site issue which would explain why its doing it on multiple devices. I would wait for a while and try again tomorrow if things dont get resolved/ start working today

#

If things dont work out by tomorrow then just dm me and I will try my best to help

#

Also i could have said this earlier but if you are using discord on the xbox browser idk if you would need to be using the same email from your xbox as your discord email but if you go to settings you can link your discord from there and it should open up the browser and make you sign in to discord from there which once finished it will link it to your xbox like that

#

but if you just want to change your email then yeah you will have to wait since it most likely is a site issue

I did also try to do that, but it gave me the passkey thing again
