#Xbox one controller won’t connect with wire!

Hi everyone.
My Xbox One controller refuses to connect to my PC with a cable. It only works on batteries, but when I use batteries the controller randomly disconnects and then reconnects about 15 seconds later.

I’ve tried multiple USB cables, but the controller only vibrates if I twist the cable in a certain position. Even then, it never actually connects, and the Xbox logo just keeps flashing. The controller does connect through Bluetooth, but not through a wired connection. In the Xbox app, the option to update the controller doesn’t appear because it says a USB cable must be connected, even though it is plugged in.

In racing games, the controller disconnects and then reconnects again (when using batteries/Bluetooth). When it disconnects, the car goes full throttle by itself, the screen stutters, vibration stops, and the controller becomes unresponsive. After 2 or 3 seconds it connects again and everything works normally.

I’m not sure what the issue could be.

  • I’ve tried switching different cables.
My PC is a windows 11 gaming laptop. Controller is a Xbox One.
I’ve pretty much tried different cables etc. In addition, when I change for new batteries to play in bluetooth, the batteries only last like a week before I have to switch again.
And I haven’t found any similiar issues, but people told to update firmware - which I also haven’t done but I can’t if the usb cables won’t connect from the controller to the pc.

Sounds like your USB port might be bad, if it works when you twist it sometimes.
