@dense oyster Thanks for posting! Please remember, support here is volunteer-based and not official. Be patient after posting, and don’t spam or ask in other channels.
If your issue is about accounts, billing, contact Xbox Support directly.
If your issue is related to an Enforcement action, no one here can help.
To help us help you, make sure to answer:
- What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
- **What have you tried to do to fix it already? **(List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
- Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? (Tell us what you found.)
If you don’t answer these, you might not get a response.
I just realized that the Microsoft Store and the Xbox app aren't loading either.
If you haven't tried repairing or resetting the apps you're having issues with. Give that a try. Just follow the steps on this link from Microsoft.
https://support.microsoft.com/windows/repair-apps-and-programs-in-windows-e90eefe4-d0a2-7c1b-dd59-949a9030f317
I did it and it didn't work.
Is your Microsoft store still not working?
Nop, I tried this and it didn't work either

Did you try to reset the Microsoft Store in the installed apps settings as well?
Yes, I tried that, also from PowerShell and CMD
Have you run a DISM and SFC scan through powershell or CMD yet?
DISM repairs the Windows image, ensuring that SFC has the necessary files to fix system issues.
Open an elevated Command Prompt (Run as Administrator).
Execute the following command to repair the Windows image:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
The SFC tool scans and repairs corrupted system files using a cached copy.
In the same elevated Command Prompt, type:
sfc /scannow
@dense oyster It will take a few minutes to run those if you haven't already.
I've already started them, I'll let you know as soon as it's finished
Ok
It didn't work
Darn, The Microsoft Store still wont open eh?
You might need to repair windows then.
If it opens, it gets past the loading screen and everything goes blank.
Does the same thing happen with the Xbox App and gamebar?
Yes
How do I fix it?
Initially, the problem was with the Game Bar. When I opened it, it would just keep loading all the widgets I tried to open, displaying a black screen. Then, a message would appear saying there were connection problems and to try again later. After that, I noticed the Xbox app was doing the same thing and looked for ways to fix it. The first thing I found was that I could try uninstalling the Game Bar and the Xbox app. I did that, and when I went to the Microsoft Store to reinstall it, the same thing happened.
It's a pretty hefty issue. Are you running Windows 11?
Yes
If this was happening to me. My next step to try would be going to Settings> Windows Update> Advanced options> Recovery> Fix problems using Windows Update. Reinstall now. That will push Windows update to reinstall your current version of Windows while keeping your apps, files and settings well preserved.
If something is missing or corrupted, that could potentially fix the issue. That feature functions just like if you are updating windows .
Okay, I'll try that.
Ok, that will take about an hour or so depending. Just let me know if it helped you out after it finishes. Got my fingers crossed it resolves this issue for you.
It wasn't fixed, I guess the only thing left to do is restart Windows from scratch
Sounds like that may be the case unfortunately. Sorry to hear that this issue persists after all that troubleshooting.
Do you recommend I stick with Windows 11 or go back to 10?
Can’t say we didn’t try though.
I would say stick with Windows 11. Seeing that windows 10 is at the end of its support lifecycle already as of October 24, 2025.
