Borderlands 4 controller isshea

Started playing Borderlands 4 on Xbox Series X with controller and all of a sudden the buttons except for the sticks and the shoulder buttons stop working.

Controller is fine with other games but because of this issue I attempt to leave Borderlands 4 but can't use the A button to completely leave.

No idea what's going on other than it sounds like a bad bug

Controller is wireless, through also took out battery and put in cable but still nothing changed.

Didn't do anything specific I can see other than play the game normally for a while
