Cod Warzone crossplay problem!

Hi, I hope everyone is well and enjoying their Xboxes!

I'm having a minor issue with crossplay in Cod Warzone.

I bought the new console a little over two months ago, but for the past few days, when I try to invite friends from other platforms, it's been asking me to pay for a Game Pass subscription.
I don't know if it's a bug (I hope so) because apparently they never announced that they would handle crossplay this way, and my friend on the other platform doesn't have this issue, meaning they can play with crossplay without paying.
