Hello, first off this might not be the best place to ask, sorry if that’s the case.

So, I recently had multiple electronics break on me, including my 4 Xbox controllers, they have obviously passed their warranty, since it’s been years since I have them, but I don’t want to be wasteful and just throw everything away because some parts do not work. My main and most common issue being the right bumper breaking, normally I was able to buy a replacement set and just do it at home without issue, however some issues are WAYYY beyond my expertise since obviously opening a controller and replacing a plastic part is very differed from wiring something. I’ve heard of repair shops, but idk where to go exactly. For reference, I live in Quebec, Canada, not the US, in some rare instances something may be available in the rest of Canada but not here due to the laws on languages.

So what now?

  • Do I find a repair shop near me?

  • Does Xbox repair their product?

  • Does Xbox sell spare parts?

Thank you very much for your time!

@hoary lichen Thanks for posting! Please remember, support here is volunteer-based and not official. Be patient after posting, and don’t spam or ask in other channels.
If your issue is about accounts, billing, contact Xbox Support directly.
If your issue is related to an Enforcement action, no one here can help.

To help us help you, make sure to answer:

  • What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
  • **What have you tried to do to fix it already? **(List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
  • Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? (Tell us what you found.)

If you don’t answer these, you might not get a response.

So, here’s the issues I have with the controllers:

  • Black Controller (came with the console, bought in January 2022): The left joystick button doesn’t work as well, the sound is off and it’s as if I have to press harder, which isn’t normal (I obviously stopped using it to not break it further but procrastinated on it until now)

  • White Controller (bought along the console): At first it was the right bumper not working, which I bought a replacement but thing is; procrastinating on it probably caused some other issues, some buttons (especially A) are not as responsive, at first I thought it was dust that would get better as I used it (which it somewhat did), however currently the main issue is the battery, how it drains. So for me to use it, I have to plug it in a USB cord, recharging doesn’t work well (third party battery with a charger), this issue might be the battery (as of writing I’m charging the other battery with this controller to see if it’s the battery that’s the issue).

  • Custom Controller (bought around May-June 2022) Same as the white, the right bumper, and procrastination, but now it seems as if it’s the left joystick having issues (like the black one).

  • Red controller (bought around 2024): Right bumper again… I could get another replacement part by the same third party, but I’ve been wondering if Xbox sells their own as well, this one isn’t urgent but hey, if I’m here to fix stuff why not do everything?

While we’re at it; the console itself, while still functioning, it’s obvious to say maintenance is a good thing to have, any tips on preserving it? What’s a good way to dedustify it without breaking it etc?

no one here can talk about self repair has per rule 12

you would be the best person to know where repair shops are in your area

The controllers need to be replaced and you can recycle the old controllers.
