#[Resolved] Console update error

Anyone know how to fix an error while updating my console?

Error code: 0x8B050033.

Keeps saying there’s a problem with the update but I know it’s not my wifi.

Here is how i managed to get it to work:

You're most likely an Insider if this is happening to you. On the Insider app, go to Settings>Devices and remove your Xbox from the list of devices. Then, turn your console on and, you should be able to download the update. I got signed out after the update finished but, all I had to do was sign back in. Nothing seemed to be deleted but you might have to sign back into some things.

Fair warning, your settings such as display options, personalization, and other things i havent found yet, will be reset

I removed my console from insiders about an hour ago and am still getting the error code, guess I’m just SOL

I had to download the PC insiders app through the Xbox app. But if you mean on Console, same deal, but you just gotta find the Insiders app in the store, the go to settings, manage devices, then remove the platforms you want

Im assuing Omega is the "Omega Ring"

The Omega ring is open to anyone and receives system updates closest to the GA (General Availability) release. Newly enrolled users in this ring are not guaranteed to receive all early updates, but they’ll receive the update prior to the GA release. Additionally, a small subset of users may remain on their current GA build once they enroll until the next system update becomes mandatory for the public.

If you xbox is connected and can run games/connect to your Internet, then no you are not affected.

When I get home I'm gonna try removing my Xbox from the insider program worried it won't fix the issue

I removed myself from the program on my laptop, but im assuming because the xbox cannot connect itself to WiFI, then it wont know that it hasnt been removed from the insiders program. I've read that it may be better to not try and do this as the fix is not guarteened and may make things worse.

its pretty brutal, surprisingly this is the only issue i have ever had with any xbox ever, still have my 360 that works perfectly, and my OG xbox.

basically a 1K console (Canada), plus $300 a year for Gamepass Ultimate.

The update issue should have been resolved as of 11 hours ago. You should not remove yourself from the Insider program (at least not solely for this reason) if you haven't seen the issue, as you will guarantee a factory reset (which is the worst thing that would happen now even if you had previously encountered the issue).

That's why Insider rings exist though, to catch these things before they get released to the general public. If you're not prepared to deal with potential issues from insider builds, you probably shouldn't be in the Insider program

The risks of joining up to pre-release builds should be clearly outlined to you when you join. If you don't want to risk the stability of your console, don't install potentiall unstable pre-release builds. Especially if it's your daily driver and you don't have another console

The entire purpose of the Insider program is testing out pre-release stuff, where there may be bugs

Then opt out of system updates, as far as I know you shouldn't need to be on an Insider build to join a game preview

If you don't want to test system updates you should absolutely not be in a system update preview insider ring

If you leave you will be back on the release build. But you will also force a factory reset of your console.

Yes, that sounds like a factory reset. Unfortunately since you didn't share any error codes I can't tell what may have hapened.

Come back from being out all day, xbox still won't connect. hasnt asked me to factory reset or do anything just wont connect wont sign in. Im not even bother by a factory reset, just giving an update on my own experience.

Yeah, no, that wasn't to you. It does sound like you got hit with a reset but wi-fi issues are not a known side effect of that issue. It's possible you're encountering a different issue with your networking setup.

You should make sure that your router isn't blocking based on some network ID that might have changed due to a factory reset.

Idk because it used to show the update but then it said the update failed or smth and whenever I would turn my Xbox on it js trying to get me to log in but it won’t work it’s js a gray screen
