I bought an xbox 360 for the first time yesterday (model e) and I can't seem to get my controller going. When I first got it, it was dead, or so I thought, but it turns out It's a battery compartment that needs two AA batteries. When there were no batteries in and I had it plugged in all day, the X had 4 flashing green lights, but the controller wouldn't do anything. I put two AA batteries in the spot, and it still will not turn on.

Like I said I've got a 360 for the first time in my life yesterday, I'm still new to this, I don't know if there's something I'm missing
You might have bad batteries or battery pack since the controller isn’t turning on. But you can use the cable, since it sounds like you have that. You need to pair the controller to the Xbox, by pressing the sync button on the controller and console. The cable is only for power.
