#Xbox controller wont transmit audio through headphones

i currently own hyper x cloud ii headphones and they have always worked perfectly, recently my controller stopped working and since i had bought an extra one i decided to use the original controller again. my xbox recognizes the headset and i can use the mic perfectly but it wont play any audio.

ive tried updating and resetting my controller and nothing had worked. idk if this is any help but whenever im in the audio settings i cant control the headset chat mixer, it just appears grayed out
