That excuse is used so often after the fact that it's impossible to believe. If someone I'm game sharing is my roommate, I'd lead with that instead of just saying "my friend".

I’m pretty sure there is something could like make the console you’re using a main console or something, try to see if it you’re not offline, or the subscription is expired.
