Hi I cannot get the xbox app on windows desktop to work no matter what I do. It does the loading screen for like 2 minutes and then just closes. No error message.

Ive followed the official help guide, watch and followed multiple YouTube guides, Uninstalled anti-virus, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, updated windows in every way possible, etc

@vapid island Thanks for posting! Please remember, support here is volunteer-based and not official. Be patient after posting, and don’t spam or ask in other channels.
If your issue is about accounts, billing, contact Xbox Support directly.
If your issue is related to an Enforcement action, no one here can help.

To help us help you, make sure to answer:

  • What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
  • **What have you tried to do to fix it already? **(List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
  • Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? (Tell us what you found.)

If you don’t answer these, you might not get a response.

Try to delete it first, then reset the data from app or use a vpn

you can reset apps through the microsoft store, reset it back to default / delete the files locally, uninstall might not be deleting everything

your windows wasnt up to date?

#

21h2 was like, ages ago

#

its odd that even with a fresh install the app wont boot

#

i have had that happen before, once, but it eventually went away by itself, i dont specifically remember doing anything that fixed it (though i do remember trying tons of stuff) but it never happened again once it went away

sounds like a virus or malware or something, they generally lock you out of accessing windows update

#

the full reinstall of windows is helpful in that case

#

try opening a command prompt as admin and typing uh

#

sfc /scannow

followed by

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

then restart your computer

#

will detect corruptions and attempt to fix them
