Wireless controller requiring a wire

I have an Xbox controller that is supposed to be wireless but doesn't work unless I have a wire, the controller is a series x and has no special modifications. I have tried different batterys, updating it and hard reseting it, non of which have worked

I have a white Xbox 1 and now my series x controller won't pair

so none of your controllers are pairing with your xbox? but they work wired?

Yep

However they light up as if they are

But no input works

The battery icon on the home menu doesn't show up

Every now and then when I try without a wire it flashes like it's connecting

Then it stays lit for a bit

Then repeats the flashing

Ok so they don’t work wired. You need to power cycle your Xbox. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/power/restart-or-power-cycle-console
