I bought an xbox ultimate gamepass subcription code but when i go to renew it i am forced to 'upgrade' from my core membership asking for a further 14.99 although the code is valid

if you brought the code from a store then you can just go to xbox.com/redeem and your current core will be converted into gamepass ultimate
if you try and renew from the xbox store it will charge you
