I'll start this out by saying what I do know, or at least what I think I know. The NV Disc (and apparently all other Fallout discs) now act as keys rather than the system actually reading the disc (basically the "free required update" to run the game is just the digital version) God forbid we own anything we buy. Because of that and the fact that I own Game Pass, my Series X automatically uses the Game Pass version. While this under normal circumstances this wouldn't be an issue, I didn't buy the DLC digitally. Instead, I have the Ultimate Edition of FNV on disc(s). This is an issue as it does not load the DLC from the second disc but, as stated before, loads the Game Pass version. And because I didn't buy the DLC digitally, it won't show up. Now there are two workarounds I have found thus far. The first is the coward's way out and is to buy the DLC digitally (which I won't be doing because I shouldn't have to pay for something that I already own). The second tedious but more so time consuming process involves inserting disk one, ejecting it, inserting disk two, and then waiting for the game and it's DLC to download (make sure to uninstall the base game before doing this of course. you can keep the DLC downloaded). Why this method works exactly, I'm not sure. Regardless of that, I'm just glad to be able to play the game I paid for. While method two does work, I'm sick of having to download NV each time I unplug and move my Xbox. Side note one: I don't know if it keeps the DLC if you eject disc two while the console is still plugged in, but I'm not testing that. Side note two: I have been able to keep the DLC after fully quitting the game (stop quick resume and all) after it crashed once. I also kept the DLC after turning off my console, but I suspect that has something to do with the fact that my console is set to sleep rather than shutdown when it's turned off (again, not testing that).
