#XBOX series s overheating

My xbox has started overheating the fan doesnt seem to be on and it keeps turning off after a few minutes i cannot take it apart due to not having the silly sized screw driver heads and im wondering if a external cooling fan will help and if i can use that on its own without the internal one much help will be appreciated thank you

I tried leaving it off for a while it works for abit then turns off and nothing works wont let me play games or watch youtube without it overheating

Firstly, we don't allow discussion of self repair/dismantling hardware. You should also never do that, as that's how things are made worse.

Secondly, is the console actually shutting down with a clear on-screen warning that it did so to prevent overheating?

It just shuts off then i turn it back on then it says keep console cool

Make sure it has plenty of space around it on all sides. Make sure the area is clean and free of dust. It needs a good couple of inches on all sides.

I just had it vertical playing youtube it played for about 15 mins then shut off again

Try a factory reset and see if that helps. If not, maybe see about sending it in for repair.

A fan isnt going to help. That will just blow the hot air back at the console.

Its like the fan just doesnt work cause it dont turn on or anything

I cant send it in for repairs i brought it on ebay its worked for two months perfectly fine

Yes
