you can adjust your audio settings to allow sound to only come out of a headset when a headset is connected. Or just turn the volume of your tv to 0
Settings - Genreal - Volume & Audio output - Additional options- Mute TV when headset connected
The sound only comes out of the monitor so if you set the volume to 0 no sound will come out of the speaker

If the audio slider is grey out, then the controller isn’t seeing the headset as stereo. Check your connection.
