Username Help

so basically i got my username right and then i wanted to change my username on my main and when i found a good username it added numbers behind it, when i searched for that username it is not taken. and when i try to get it from my alt its actually avialble, then why cant i get it for my main ?

uhh

1. tried to change my username, it adds random numbers behind it
2. I have tried nothing to do cause it takes $$ to change name ( dont want to risk it )
3. i searched for it and found nothing on youtube
