Don’t really play xbox anymore but have purchased BO6 Vault Edition. I’ve tried installing it on the PC Xbox App but it tells me i need to buy BO6. Am i missing something or are the versions just different?

If the game does not have the play anywhere feature then it does not grant you a license to play on other platforms. According to what I see on the Xbox website, it only grants you a license for console and cloud gaming.
