Alright. So kinda long winded so bear with me.

Was playing MH Wilds last night with friends and all of a sudden got connection errored. Whatever I thought. Just soft restart via console menu’s, no big deal.

Xbox turns back on and acts like I’m not connected to internet. Yet, I can see who’s online and who’s in parties. Check Network Connection (it’s connected, perfect NAT type, no packet loss, etc.) Console still thinks I’m not connected for some reason.

Decide to do a power cycle. Console then proceeds to factory reset and starts giving me the error in the title when trying to do the initial update.

Hard restart, 0 fix. Posted on Reddit r/xboxsupport, no answer today.

Go out and bought brand new XSX.

Come home, same issue when trying to perform the initial update.

Network works for smart tv, PS4, phones, tablets, etc.

Only thing I haven’t tried is an offline update via a flash drive.

Any thoughts as to what the hell is going on?

If you google 0x80072EE7 is a network connection issue. There was a service issue but was fixed not long ago. You may just need to restart the console again unpluging it since

It was just fixed i do not have the exact time but in the last hour or so.

the error is linked too network connection so i would look at that and try agin if it was me.

Alright I’ll try again when I get home from running errands.

Regardless, pretty wild error to have factory reset my box on its own while the rest of my friends had zero issues.

Was suggested to utilize phone hotspot. This resolved the initial setup error here. Just running into problem after problem, error after error. Starting to think it’s a network error on my provider (spectrum) or via my equipment (Nighthawk / Netgear) as I am now having issues with signing into my account, the NAT type is unavailable and the MTU isn’t available.
