updating the controller will update the firmware it will not wipe any of your settings. The settings are linked to your profile.
So the button mapping ain’t stored on the controller? It’s to my Microsoft account?
the mapping is sync to your controller and your profile. So if you sign into a other device you still have access to it
the controller does not have any storage or memory if that's what your asking.
