Black screen popped up all of a sudden. Trouble shooted with different hdmi cords. Trouble shoot setting allowed me to reload with 60hz - BUT now there is NO SOUND 😦 . Changing to 120 hz causes the black screen again. I have oled 4K 120hz tv , my hdmi cables and tv are not the issue. This happened suddenly after no issues with these settings after having the Xbox since it was released. Only thing that is different is the game I have been playing (Avowed)? Could be completely unrelated/ a stretch… but it truly is the only thing different since series x launch . - anyone else have the same issue at all? If so what is the fix 😩

I guess another question is…. Do I need to buy a new one 😭

I would recommend trying another TV, another TV port, and putting the TV in game mode.
Instead of trying a game, try a YouTube video to test the sound.
Also make sure to check the sound options active on the console and not have any USB peripherals connected to the console or anything on the controller that could be interpreted as a sound source.

Also, if you can, try putting headphones on the controller in case it plays sound.

I don't think you need to buy another one if the console's HDMI output works properly, at most you might have to reset to factory settings in the console's options to restore some console settings that you can't find, but I would try everything else first.

Thank you, I will try these things. I don’t know if the sound works at all because we don’t even hear the start up sound when it turns on. We did reset but kept games and apps, do you think completely factory reset would change this? I’m not sure if the HDMI is working properly because it won’t output 120 hz like it used to. I will definitely try everything you said though. We have two tvs and two Xbox’s next to each other so my partner and I can play together so I can easily test this again. I will get back to you once we are done trying this

Sound works on headset when plugged in… still not through tv !! How do we change this ? We feel pretty handy with the settings so I’m unsure what more we could do
