It’s driving me insane. Why would the Xbox Support website says: “The Xbox Wireless Headset connects wirelessly to your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console, or to your Windows, Android, or iOS device via Bluetooth.” And right underneath there is a note saying: “The Xbox One console does not feature Bluetooth functionality. You won’t be able to connect your headset to the console using Bluetooth.”

What am I supposed to understand? It can connect via Bluetooth but doesn’t have bluetooth functionality.

xbox has its own wireless protocol

So if you have any other headset, it has to be wired to your controller or use a USB dongle?

I recently bought the (most recent version) Skullcandy PLYR® WIRELESS Multi-Platform Wireless Gaming Headset and I tried to plug-in the USB dongle it came with but I can’t do anything to try to connect, there just seem to be nothing to do… i read a few 2 years old post about the old version of the PLYR which said it doesn’t work with Xbox, but why marketing it to “Multiplatform” if it doesn’t work on Xbox? The only way to make it work is by using the 3.5 mm cable plugged into the controller. I am just dumbfounded by the fact that in 2025 I run into this kind of 2005’s trouble.

No they don’t. It just says “Compatible With Xbox Controllers”.

My mistake, but I believe it to be an honest mistake and I’m never buying Skullcandy again. 2025 and can’t even connect with a dongle like some other headset? What? I understand the Xbox doesn’t take bluetooth, but dongles exist for a reason, why in the hell would this one dongle not work for Xbox only, but work for Playstation.

Any dongle used on an Xbox must be designed for an Xbox. You can’t install arbitrary USB drivers on a console.

I doubt it is a question of “exclusivity” as they still include the 3.5 mm jack for Xbox. I just don’t understand why… Can’t you use any PC mouses on Xbox with a dongle? Or it has to be wired to the console? Because I doubt all mouses manufacturer design their mouse around Xbox.

You'd have to ask Skullcandy about their product decisions.
