Did it show a screen saying. that you need to update your firmware?
No but its the only thing I haven't done bc I can't hear anything but the in game vc on my headaet

okay, then it has nothing to do with the firmware. you should pretty much never upgrade device firmware unless you're told to
you probably just need to use the chat mixer

I tried to change that stuff it won't let me that's why idk what ells to do
if it is all greyed out then the xbox doesn't think you have a full stereo headset/mic combo.
try unplugging and replugging it.
try a different headset.
try a different controller.
