#Series X Controller suddenly won’t work on PC

I use it via Bluetooth (no adapter or wires) on my W11 PC. I’ve rarely had any issues over time, but last night, the controller suddenly went haywire. It worked fine for an hour of play, but then I tried to play a racing game and it acted like I was pressing the gas when I wasn’t. I then tried a different game, and it was still giving wrong inputs. So I disconnected it, only to find I couldn’t get it re-connected.

It kept momentarily showing “connected (81%)”before going away (I’d show a video but the server won’t let me). I eventually gave up and went to bed. Today I tried again and got the same result. I fear my $60 controller has suddenly become unusable. I can’t find any specific answers online either (they either mention an adapter or wires, which I DON’T have). I’ve never had a lasting problem with this before, why is it suddenly one now?

•Said above. Windows 11 homebuilt PC.
•Said above. Also changed batteries.

fully charge it and try again. the battery could be too low, even tohugh it claims 81%

It’s obviously some kind of error, because it’s always 81%. And it just flickers for a half-second before going back to “not connected”. I don’t know why it suddenly went haywire during play last night either.

Okay, I just played DIRT Rally 2.0 on my actual XBOX and it’s working as it should. So thankfully the controller seems fine. Problem must be on the PC end.

Okay, it’s working now. I just removed the device from the Bluetooth list and then put it back on. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that earlier.

Still don’t have an explanation for why that happened last night, but at least it’s working
