Hey there i was trying to play dead island 2 coop with a friend he has the game on steam and me on Xbox pc game pass we cannot invite each other altho both our steam/epic services are connected any ideas?

The short answer is no, Dead Island 2 does not have crossplay, so PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players are kept separate and can't team up. All you can do is connect to others within the same console family, so PS5 and PS4 or Xbox Series X and Xbox One players can join each other, as well as Epic and Steam on PC. This does at least open up some options to form a Slayer squad outside of the platform you own, but obviously it's not much. Plus, players on the base PS4 or Xbox One S can join sessions but can't host them, though PS4 Pro and Xbox One X users can host.
