Man I just got this Xbox and controller 2 weeks ago
Only 2 weeks ago and it’s already doing this

then send it back and have them replace it
Ok so when I try to do this it says it’s not registered but I know for sure i registered it and I just tried again like 2 seconds ago and it still says it’s not registered I’m getting upset about it

If the controller came with the xbox, I think you only register the xbox itself and not the individual accessories?
Either way, you should contact official support if you're having trouble with warranty
