My little brother got me a Xbox one as a late christmas & bday gift. When I hooked it up and turned it on, I immediately saw a issue.

  1. I couldnt add a account (to sign into my account)
  2. If I connected to internet (even with ethernet cable) it wont let me update the console
    NaT Type: Open — Service Info is Unavailable
  3. The error code I get, is:
    Update Error: Network Error. 0x80072efe "It took too long to start the update" (When in actuality, it dont at all start the update.)
  4. It immediately jumps to the error screen saying "Something went wrong with the update, please try again later" and Ive been stuck like this SINCE THE 28th.

Was this Xbox One new in box or used?

But the way it looked when I first turned it on, it looked like it was used. Three games were in it, a single account was in it

Main issue was I cant add account unless Im signed into Xbox Live

So when I tried to, I kept getting the same error code- even when I was connected to wifi

If you paid new price for it you should maybe try to get a refund

Otherwise your best option is probably the offline update above

The offline update page has instructions to do it from a USB if there is no accessible UI

No, I mean its stuck at the "startup update" screen

Microsoft Support told me to factory reset it and maybe itll worked.
