I cannot redeem a visa gift card on microsoft store because the redeem gift card section is only for xbox gift cards and its a gift card so i cant use the debit/credit method. I have tried using it and putting my name in place of the cardholder and it has not worked. any suggestions that are not" reading the articles on google" would be appreciated, thanks

I tried entering the VISA gift card in as a "Debit/Credit Payment" but it needs a cardholder name whilst doing so and using my own and the name of the card company prompts the message: "Check that the details in all fields are correct or try a different card"

I already did tell you to call the number on the card. They may be able to register it for you on the phone. It needs to be registered, not just activated. They're two different things.

i called and it just restated the fact that the card is active, my balance, and recent transaction

Yes, and after you do that there should be options that allow you to request to speak to someone.

The only other option I can think of is to do what others suggested and just go to a store and buy a physical card. I know they sell "select a price" cards for XBox at my local Walmart, so that could be an option.

what would those look like, becausse ive definitely seen them. and yes i do believe that is my only option, as i was saing before, i find it interesting that there is no option for a specfically VISA giftc card in the payment plans, would clear a lot of this up

They look exactly like an XBox gift card, but they says 5-500 dollars in the corner, instead of 25 dollars or whatever.

Walmart is the only place I've seen these specific ones so far, so I'm not absolutely sure if they sell them anywhere else.

You may only be able to do increments of 5, I'm not sure since I haven't gotten one yet, but I picked it up and looked at it because I'd never seen it before.

purchasing an xbox gift card is the solution. A rather annoying one, but no additional fees are added

You can't redeem a VISA gift card on the Microsoft store. The redeem page is for their own cards only.

You're supposed to buy something and then enter the card info as the payment method.

what Rhinne said but if that is failing as you said then you will need too use the gift card in a other store or retailer too buy a xbox gift card then use that on xbox.
