i gave my friend my epic games account a long time ago and he made a xbox account and linked it to the epic games account. my friend doesnt remember the xbox account log in and from what i understand if i unlink it i cant link another one. so is there any possible way of recovering the xbox account only remembering the IGN of the account/e

you can not find an email if all you have is the gamertag.

look through your old emails and figure out which one you used? there should be a 'welcome to xbox' or something type mail

i dont have emails as my friend made the xbox account and linked it to my epic games. the only kinda proof i have is that i own the epic games account it is linked to. but idk if thats valid proof.

this is why i always keep all my email and passwords written down somewhere and keep it safe just in case if i forget them
