#I have an issue with my internet at home

I have issues with my Xbox Series X connecting to the internet at home. At other locations, my Xbox connects fine, so I know this is an issue with the modem/internet. After turning my xbox on, I will not be connected to the internet. Restarting the Xbox and Modem does not work. Sometimes after messing with the DNS settings (inputting random manual DNS settings, restarting console, then selecting automatic DNS, then restarting again) it will work, but now it is just not connecting at all after an hour of trying. When this does work, I never disconnect from the internet. Only after I turn off the Xbox and return the next day do I lose internet again. Why doe this happen?

I have searched the rror code and similar problems - nothing has worked.

what does "not be connected" specifically mean?

What is the actual error message you get, and when do you get it, etc

when first turn on my Xbox, I am not connected to the internet - even though I have an ethernet cable directly connected to the modem. Like on the Home screen it says "Connect to the Xbox network"

and what happens when you click that button

It leads to the Network section of Settings

Yes I have. My error message is "Can't connect with a static IP address"

#

why are you entering a static ip address

I tried inputting the IP address that is on the Modem. I just selected automatic, and not it says "Can't connect to your DHCP server." I changed the port that my ethernet cable is connected to, then tested the network connection - it said that my device was connected to the internet, but it was not. I just restarted, and back to "Can't connect to your DHCP server." I have tried using different ethernet cables as well. How do I set up a DHCP on my router? Would this help?

do not use the router's ip address as your xbox's ip address. do not use static ip addresses at all, unless whoever set up your network told you to and told you exactly what IP to enter.

Your router already has a DHCP server running on it, you do not need to set up another one.

#

Since you've already started up your xbox with your router's ip address set it is possible you've just confused things.

#
  1. do a factory reset, keeping games/apps, of your xbox to undo whatever stuff you've done across all the different working pages
#
  1. turn off the xbox
#
  1. restart your router (eg unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in, or use the power button if it has one)
#
  1. after your router has been turned back on for a minute, turn your xbox back on

#

okay, trying that now

#

it said : We couldn't remove this console's home Xbox associations. still good to go through with this?

#

yes

#

did you do 'factory reset: keep my apps and games' ? i didn't think that reset home xbox

tawdry pendant
#

yes, I did keep games and apps

#

the factory reset seems to have connected me to the internet

#

should i restart my xbox to see if it disconnects again?
