To help troubleshoot we need a lot more than “updates fail sometimes”
they just during the update says it failed, I press it on and it just continues from where it was
External hard drive or internal storage?
internal
Probably an issue with your local network that you should troubleshoot when it occurs
That happens sometimes and there is nothing you can do about it
I'm done! 2 days later and it needs to do the whole 230gb again?? Xbox is terrible! I'm definitely gonna quit gamepass with this bs
Generally if you need to re-downloaded the entire game during an update, it's because the current/latest update was canceled during the update process and caused the game to be uninstalled (as a partially updated game can't remain on the system)
I finished the download. Last time as well.
sometimes you do have too download the full game again
well now you know and just shows it itsnt really that much of an issue.
it is when the game is 230gb
okay sometimes you have to redownload the game in full when its just an update, The fact you say you never had to do this in the past just shows it does not happen alot. This doesnt change the fact its 200 plus gb. But it is what it is
well it happens alot bcs it just happened with 3 big games in a row and now 2 days later it happened again
it never happened with any other cliënt and I also don’t have gamepass that long
btw sorry if I sound angry nothing personal
If it is happening repeatedly and you are not cancelling updates then something is wrong.
Try factory resetting your console. You can keep the games and apps installed.
This should be a very rare occurrence (outside of when you cancel an update)
well I'm back
the same 3 games just had to redownload cause of an update
and also (last time as well) the download speed they say isn't matching with how much mb is actually being downloaded per second
the xbox game pass is broken as hell
how does it say 300mb/s while it takes an entire 30 seconds to go up a gb
becuase that is actually exactly how the math works
300 megabits per second woudl download 1 gigabytes worth of day in a theoretical minimum of 26 seconds
so 30 seconds would be a very reasonable real-world time due to overhead, retries, etc
Have you tried a different drive? What troubleshooting have you done?
No other drive to select
What is this bs, I barely said anything
Like I said, I don't have time to reset the whole app, did my research online and it looks more like an issue with the app resetting the entire game download when an update fails
so not something I can do but rather xbox being xbox (ass)
if you cancel an update, the game gets uninstalled.
if an update gets interrupted, you lose internet, you reboot, etc, the update should resume next time it connects
if a game has not updated in a long time it might decvide that an intermediate patch isn't good enough and downloads an entirely new version
if a game update is improperly pushed by the developers (this happened with, ummm, fortnite? a couple months ago) then instead of a patch you end up having to download an entirely new version
if you are moving games between internal and external and you only move part not all dlc/addons, or if you are doing 'copy' sometimes instead of 'move' then you end up in a weird state where you may end up downloading multiple things, I'm not entirely sure other than 'things go sideways when half-installed'
I never cancelled any update so thats the whole problem
and its the games I updated like 2 weeks ago
nothing of these could be it since I haven’t done any
Only possible thing is that in some way the 3 exact same games got improperly pushed at the same times
So it’s the same 3 games that’s redownloading? You have other game pass games and they’re normal?
